Has anyone noticed that he actually just stole from a previous edit?

yes, they're identical. only some different pixels moved and different colors. its really lazy
Yeah, sorry about pretty well copying. I'll try and remake it (make it more original) when I add some contrast. It was really just me being lazy.
EDIT-Here, a LITTLE more original: And I attempted to give him legs. I don't know how good it looks. I touched up the sheet a little. EDIT (23/03/2014): Hello? I'd kind of like to work on this so could I get some C+C soon? Sorry if this is impatient.
Well,
I got Goomba! Any good? Oh, and here are the items again. In case they ended up being left behind. EDIT: Hello? Seriously is anybody there? EDIT 2: HELLOOO? I'd like to work on stuff please! I need C+C!

While it seems you're eager to animate, don't until you've got a solid base to work from. I'm thinking you could get away with using just one color for his torso part, where the feet and body connect. As for your item sheet, the peach shade for the mushrooms is very bland and poorly contrasted as well, play around with the colours some more. Thanked by: Iocus

Well, here's the items.
Are the skin colors better?
03-28-2014, 11:01 PM
Personally, I think the contrast on the skin is a little too low. You might want to go more for an outline-y kind of color for those items in there.

Actually, your contrast on every single one of those (it's most obvious on the far right orange thing) is way, way too low.
Well here I go again.
I just used the Mario skin pallet for the skin. Since, it's white skin on both the Mushrooms and Mario, it makes sense doesn't it? The cap colours better? Better contrast?

It's better, but I think you could try a black outline, and if you want to, give it selout.
03-29-2014, 04:32 PM
Well, I attempted a selout, but i'm guessing it doesn't look the best.
Here's one with a black outline. And please tell me you meant the Goomba
I meant both to be honest. And for the new sprites you posted, I think you should make the goomba brighter, right now the darkest shade is too similar to the outline.
I'm not sure what everyone is trying to say is coming across right. Your contrast is not aggressive enough, especially towards the darker shades. Don't be afraid to use dark colors! Look at this, for instance.
I've edited your mushroom. You may noticed I've gotten rid of some banding at the bottom, and changed the colors. I've compared the properties of our colors: http://imgur.com/PDd8yuS (top are yours, bottom are mine) Hue shifting aside, you can see that the darkest shade in mine is considerably darker from yours. Since that color is reserved to the outline, it gives the object a more 'solid' feel, and additionally makes the other shades stand out. At a larger scale, you might be able to get away using low-contrast transitional shades, but at a small scale, you're better off using a small number of high-contrast shades. Thanked by: E-Man
