I haven't made pixel art in a while, however. I want to know what you guys think of these sprites i've made recently Cute

I was wondering if I could get some critisism to help me improve. I know it's not much sprites., but any pointers on how to improve them would be appreciated Cute.

Hm, I like these sprites! They could stand to have some more contrast, but I'd say these are fine otherwise.

By the way, are you going to do something to make the shape of the mushroom look neater, or is that the style you're going for?

it's ok to suck, sucking is not bad, just try and aim to always do your best!

Thanks Cute, i'm glad u like them.

I'm kinda going for a classic style mario mushroom, with some modern mario mushroom features. I guess I could make the head a little more round.

Didn't the original mushroom have more of a conical style? If you're referring to the old NES sprites, I mean.

Also, in regards to your avatar, are you a sergal?

Yep. I was going for a mix up of the new mario mushroom. I might try making both a conical style, and rounded off style of the mushroom, just to see which one you guys like better Cute.

And nope, I'm just a fox ^w^.

EDIT:

Ok, I changed the sprites a little, please tell me which one you think looks better and how they can be improved:

The two on the left side look good, though I think the specular on the pointy mushroom might need to be tweaked. Hard to tell with such an unusual shape. The slanted mushroom looks like one side might be heavier/thicker than the other, so it just looks weird. I think the other two are an improvement.

And no offense, you just looked kinda sergalish to me. It was the muzzle, mostly.

I might consider scrapping the slanted one, as I personally like the round-ish one way better X3.

I take no offense. I just google sergals, and they seem pretty cool :3.

I think the mushroom trunk (where the little face is) is too undershaded considering how the cap has some many shades. Also, the cap is not just a flat thing on top of it, it's a half sphere-like object that casts shadow on the trunk. The trunk has too little contrast-- you can hardly tell that second shade is there. It also might be a little banded.

The tree stump looks decent (but I agree with E-man about the contrast), though on closer inspection, the outline on the roots looks a little jittery. Try cleaning that up.

Oh, just wondering, is there a particular reason why the mushroom is uneven? I mean, it's not a big deal, but nobody would bat an eye if it was symmetrical. Maybe the dots on the sides of the cap could be a little further to the sides to make the center look less crowded, too.
