Yea she also doesn't have trunk legs. It's not like the character shown in the art transfers into game anyway. When you see May in game in RSE you don't really get a confident adventurer vibe. You get a silent protagonist vibe. Because ultimately, that's what they will be degenerated into anyway.

Honestly, the vibes I get are "how does she walk without her legs breaking" or "where does she keep her internal organs, because there's no way she has room for them in her small torso"

She doesn't look like she's able to travel across the country, she looks like she's able to travel across a fashion runway

I get that but c'mon, out of place? Look at the female admins for Aqua and Magma. Magma admin is basically asking for it up the bum. GF has been taking more liberty with their character designs in the past few gens. Look at Gen 5 female protag. She's the epitome of sexualized.

Regardless, I don't see how she is being sexualized. I mean, I would plug her, but I would have plugged old May too. The bendy limb thing is just how Sugimori is drawing these days. Look at the artwork he did of Greninja for Smash. Look at official art for Serena and the BW2 female protag.

She's also supposed to be older. If I recall, May's supposed to be like ten years old. And besides, the BW2 protag and Serena aren't as bad, and they didn't have a previous design that later became more skimpy
