I will say this:
from a distance, the mid shade on the "IceChuck" kind of bleeds with the darker tone and the outline color, making his closed eyes blend in a bit. at least that's how it is for me against the bright pink background, so it may change when put against the final background assets.

though it might not necessarily be accurate, a slight increase in brightness may improve readability to some degree.
