Yoshi's Epic Ya-- I mean, Wooly World

Well they seem to have a traditional health system instead of having a baby on the back. That's a pretty big difference between the two. Also there's a lot of world creation/destruction going on in this game. Not sure how the score system is going to work.

Don't get me wrong, it clearly has its own original flourishes and the art style looks brilliant, but it doesn't do much to assuage my fears that Nintendo's nostalgia fixation is still going strong.

I got that vibe from Yoshi's New Island right from the first gameplay video, but not exactly from this. I think it looks pretty original so far.

Yoshi's New Island always felt like they were answering a personal "What if...?"

"What if Yoshi's Islad had been made with the 3D-type visuals we'd originally intended?"

Alternatively, "What if we made another game with Yoshi's Island in the title?"

Actually we already know the answer to that is "We'd make lots of money".

I think this game looks pretty fun! Classic Yoshi action without that annoying baby! I also like that unlike New Island, this one actually looks inspired instead of just being a quick cash grab.

There was a Yoshi's Island DS?

Amusingly enough, I got that game very soon after it came out. It was... okaaay, I certainly liked that they tried bringing other babies with different abilities into the foray, but I could never get over the fact that it always felt like a fangame rather than an official one to me :/

I have that game. Its alright, but the different baby gimmick felt pretty underwhelming.

yoshi's island ds didn't hold my attention for long, but it had one very important impact on the mario universe:

baby wario.
