The Case Of The Internet, vs. Psyguy
#76
Psy's gone into DELETE FUCKING EVERYTHING mode.

Might be a good time to get some screenshots or google cache, however that works. This could be seen as obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence.

Wait is there actually some sort of legal case being developed here? I thought this was just a collection of people calling out what an asshole he is.

In a hypothetical, there is enough testimonial evidence to make a case.

Psy also used(abused) youtube's automated copyright claim system to have a video about the confessions against him removed, and that uploader seems to have some intent on using the law against Psy; it's highly plausible that it could lead to the case being taken to a higher-power court.

Well I did read that the guys that host his podcast have removed any power he has over the site to try and stop him from removing anything. Has that been breached somehow?

It hasn't and I can guarantee that. Where did you read that though, just out of curiosity?

What, that it had been breached? That was just my assumption based on people saying he was purging everything he could which I could've dispelled with more research. Sorry about that.

I think I read that he had been locked out of removing the podcasts in one of the posts in the mega-post, probably by someone at Muscle Tower about how Psyguy screwed them over so often.

I was curious if that had made it into the mega post. The reason I can guarantee that he hasn't been able to delete anything is because I run Muscle Tower and specifically removed his access to the site. I was just curious how you found out.

Welp, down goes most of Psyguy's sites. If he was trying to refrain from incriminating himself further, he's not doing a very good job. These aren't the actions of an innocent man.

Considering Psy threatens a lot of people with legal action, I kind of wonder where he gets his advice from...

being you know, none of your things are actually deleted off their servers and can stay on there for up to six months

only further incriminating you as people will wonder why you deleted them in the first place, lol

Just a little insight here, again I'll just say for the record I'm more familiar with infinitely less public situations, but this is pretty traditional cut-and-run tactics.

Either he's realized he can't actually get away with this, or possibly the law has finally taken some action, whatever spurred him on it's pretty obvious that this is him basically trying to run away and hide.
I don't want to be discouraging here, but unfortunately this is something that does work fairly often, you dump everything, go off the radar for a while, never use your old handle and just start over.
I say this works fairly often, but unluckily for mister Bryon Beaubien, not so much when everyone knows your name, where you live, and what you look like.
Maybe if he changed his name and appearance he could avoid having to outright move, but if we're talking legal action here it's a much trickier (although not impossible) thing to just disappear from.

My prediction? It's not gonna go that far, he's too attention loving and self-assured, I'd bet money that he's just half-buried what he can and that nothing is actually gone (not that you can really get rid of everything that easily, as explained in the last post.)
Either he'll wait for the heat to die down or eventually just get impatient, and then he'll come back "a changed man" or some other attempt to excuse the whole thing or even try to use it as a springboard.

Needless to say this isn't enough, he needs to face actual consequences and not just define his own terms for what he's willing to do.

One time I was accused of pirating a video game but then I managed to throw the NSA off my trail.

Also I'd like everyone to know that I prefer to be called "Carla" now and that my reasons for going to Australia are still definitely purely academic.
