I already know pink haired girl villager is my main but I like this Robin chick
(also is it just me or is it extremely common for white haired anime characters to have black and yellow clothing?)

So are we not going to talk about how Robin should totally be customizable a la hair colors, height, facial models, etc.?
Because considering how we've got some customization going with Mii equipment, it seems like it'd be a missed opportunity if you can't stop and change Robin's model scheme around with facial/hair/color variants

If you think about it, guessing Wii Fit Trainer is like winning the lottery. It's very very very unlikely. But so many people are making guesses, thousands, that one is bound to get it right.

With regards to the Fire Emblem squabbles, I'm just pleased to see Nintendo giving the series the attention is deserves. Though, it makes me wonder what state FE would be in without Awakening (A lot of people didn't care about the series itself until Awakening was released and became popular...), and to be quite honest I think we're very fortunate to have four reps in SSB4. Donkey Kong still only has two announced characters, while Metroid is still lingering at one and a half.

I wouldn't mind a separate mode where you got to control boss characters trying to take down the fighters.

I thought three was a good number for Fire Emblem. Four is pushing it. But that's just me.

I'd love to hear you if they ever announced that K Rool dude and maybe Dixie, you'd be all over that shit, so don't go telling me 4 for a series whose most recent game sold more than double(worldwide overall and each's U.S. figures) what Tropical freeze sold is pushing it. Fire Emblem is seriously popular now, and has a monstrous backlog of characters, it makes perfect sense the amount of characters that are in.
Would it be neat to see more characters from series like Metroid and F-Zero? Of course it would be, but like it's been debated many times before, aside from Ridley who's a debatable inclusion imo (mainly I just don't like his design, but that's kind of(okay not kind of, definitely) a very opinionated argument), Metroid really doesn't have many other memorable people deserving of a character slot, and F-Zero just doesn't really have anyone else you could justify a character slot for honestly. Instead, slots that could be wasted like those (sorry Ridley fans, I wouldn't like it if he got in, but I wouldn't really complain either ) they're being given to fucking awesome characters like Megaman and Pacman. Also let's not forget Kid Icarus got another character (Palutena)which is absolutely fantastic!
And then Wii Fit Trainer ought to be pretty interesting actually, I look forward to trying her out.
I just don't get why people get so caught up in how many a series has, when really the numbers make sense. Mario has a butt ton of characters because he's the face of Nintendo, Zelda has a good amount because Zelda is the bees knees of gaming, Pokemon has a butt ton because how can you not have a lot of Pokemon, there's so fucking many of them! And after that, at this moment, this moment in time, Fire Emblem is probably not far down, or even next up in the list of popularity right now, Awakening broke down the dam that had been cracking apart over the years from fantastic game after fantastic game, and now Fire Emblem's finally getting the attention it deserves.
And they're still not done with new characters to the best of our knowledge right? So instead of complaining that a series has a good number of reps, remain hopeful you'll see more for your favorite series which has gotten more popular again over the past couple of years, because in the end, they're all under the Nintendo Umbrella, and Nintendo churns out great characters period.
Also plzzzz Shulk, Bayonetta, and Travis Touchdown.
Actually how cool would a Splatoon character be? You could replace the probable absence of Snake with ya new kickbutt IP and get em a bunch of exposure before their game even comes out.

I'd LOVE to see Splatoon somehow represented in this--assist trophy/stage, if not newcomer.
I'm only a little worried it's a little late for them, but there are so many surprises at this point who knows o/

I think the Donkey Kong series deserves to have just as many reps as Fire Emblem. The fact that it might not, is what bothers me.
See, I judge how many characters a franchise should have based on how many characters a franchise of equal value has. If Fire Emblem gets four, Donkey Kong gets four. That's fair. I'm worried DK will only get three... or worse only two!
The exceptions are franchises like Metroid which don't have a lot of characters to use.
donkey kong as a series is great and all but i can't say it's equal to fire emblem in relevancy. it's only as of late that the franchise has seen any notable activity, while fire emblem has had a rather consistent output and popularity growth.
donkey kong used to be really important to nintendo, but that isn't really the case anymore.

What? Um, Tropical Freeze outsold Mario 3D World. DKC Returns sold three times what Awakening did. In fact Fire Emblem was at such a decline for a while that if Awakening didn't sell it would have been the LAST GAME in the series. Yeah.

Quote:Truth be told, sales are dropping. The sales manager of Nintendo, Mr. Hatano, told us that this could be the last Fire Emblem. Due to this progressive descend on sales, they told us that if the sales of this episode stayed below 250,000 copies, we'd stop working on the saga.
So where are you getting your info?
EDIT: Got my number crossed. Tropical Freeze didn't do better than Mario 3D World in the long run, it just had a better first week.

Honestly like, not even down to sales numbers, I think the biggest reason that I would assume the DK series might only be repped by Donkey and Diddy alone is simply 'cause the rest of the DK series isn't a creation of Nintendo of Japan. Not counting Mario Kart Wii (that game had everyone) Donkey and Diddy are the only Kongs to appear in pretty much anything made by Japanese developers, so I feel there's a pretty clear bias there. It's the same reason why the Prime series is mostly looked over for content for Metroid, and why you're probably not gonna see Mike Jones from StarTropics in the game. There's no pride for American-made stuff for a Japanese developer.
However if we do go into sales numbers (which really aren't end all be all indicators of series popularity, but that's a different post), there's something there too. As well as the Retro Studios DK games may have sold here in the US, it doesn't really change the fact that DK's not popular in Japan at all, especially compared to Fire Emblem. Awakening sold 245,402 copies in its first week, which is more than the first week sales of DKC: Returns and Tropical Freeze COMBINED (169,260 + 38,265). And 3D World (101,798) massively outsold Tropical Freeze in Japan.
And as much as Little Mac can be seen as them appealing more to the US audience I really don't think it should be seen as anything more than an exception to the rule, that rule being that the development team is still gonna look homeward for insight on series popularity.
EDIT: I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd love for Dixie Kong to be added that would be great (though I doubt I'd play her much just based on the fact I've never really liked how the DK series characters played...), I just massively disagree with the idea of thinking that DK and FE are equal in the development team's eyes. I'm just saying I'm not getting any hopes up about it.

I think, because of the better focus on competitive/tourney play, we'll be seeing more clones like Lucina. I think Dr. Mario might even return.
I don't care how many reps a franchise gets. More is better, simple as that. I don't really see it as 4 FE characters, but as 1 FE where Marth debuted character, 1 Radiant FE character and 2 Awakening FE characters.
I'd love to see more playable F-Zero character, I have never played any FE game and never really could get into any, but I see no problem with this. None. And claiming it's a waste of space is a dumb argument, because every MB left unused on a disk is a waste.
