TSR's Super Smash Bros Thread|SWITCH HYPE TRAIN NOW BOARDING
(12-01-2014, 10:05 AM)E-Man Wrote: Is it just me, or is Nintendo getting a little sloppy with their games ever since patching and DLC became a big thing for them?

Well, it might be just me, but the biggest gripes I have couldn't have been the result of sloppy work, and aren't exactly the kind of things you can just patch or add DLC to. Stage Builder is a steaming pile of hunk, even if you add new parts to it. Classic Mode doesn't feel like Classic Mode at all. Smash Tour is just fucking stupid as fuck, and you can patch that game all you want, the only patch I'd want is one that replaces it with Smash Run. 8-player Smash is really limited when it comes to available stages, and it just doesn't feel like it's worth it. Some stages are just utterly ruined by stage hazards, especially those with boss characters.

And I mean, Smash for Wii U isn't a bad game, it's pretty fun, but it's those little things that makes me enjoy it a little bit less than I have with other Smash games.
Big sigs are for scrubs.

That's sad. Sad  But I'll still ask for it on Christmas anyway.
It really isn't, it's stupidly fantastic. I think some people like with Destiny get too hyped and you're just setting yourself up for disappointment if you do that. It's a real fun game, there's plenty of fun stuff to do. Some of the changes such as to Classic are a little puzzling, but it hardly ruins the game. The character additions are all really rad as well.

Not a huge disappointment at all, still really fun to play. Like any game out there, there's always some things that would make it better, but it's a fantastic experience and I don't regret buying it at all.

I must admit, it's hard not to be disappointed when the only way to play "fighters-as-stocks" is through Smash Tour, and those fights are anything but even.

I really wish that was its own game mode like in Project M. The programming is obviously already here, so it wouldn't be too hard, I imagine, as a DLC mode...

Just because I'm disappointed doesn't mean I think the game is bad. It's the opposite. It's way too amazing to be held back by these few nuisances.

Yeah it's still very good. It's just that over half of the new stuff make me go "meh" or "ugh".

Compare that to Brawl which gave us legends like Wario, Diddy Kong, King Dedede, Meta Knight, Pokemon Trainer, Olimar, SONIC!

Brawl also gave us Assist Trophies, Final Smashes, Stage Builder, My Music... sweet lord! That stuff is incredible. I don't even think this game's new content comes close to what was new in Brawl.

Yeah this game really didn't add anything revolutionary. It basically seems like a more polished Brawl with less original content additions aside from roster additions.

Little Mac, Pacman and especially Mega Man would like to have a word with you. I:

Seriously though, these kind of games can't grow exponentially every installment. As the games get more and more content, they are going to reach this plateau that they eventually won't be able to easily overcome. It happens in ALL fighting games: they reach a sizable number of characters, and in order to include fresh characters and ideas, sometimes they are going to do things like remove characters, alter previous mechanics, etc.

Also, to the commentary about the Wii U getting more if the 3DS version didn't exist, I'm going to reiterate what I said before: Basically picture all the 3DS content that was not included on the Wii U, and that's as much as you would have gotten. Or maybe they'd even have just did the Wii U version as it currently is and called it a day.

Sorry but where exactly do you expect Nintendo to go foward with after adding almost all the top requests and big gaming stars after Brawl?

Even then we got gaming superstars like MegaMan, Pac-man, Little Mac and The Animal crossing rep

It wouldn't surprise me if the next Smash brings in more obscure characters like an Inkling or that guy from Project STEAM

Honestly, I don't care about newcomers that much at this point. We got some great ones. Really just patch in the veterans and the roster is great.

And it's not even close to a bad game, in fact it's the most fun I've had with the franchise since... Well, I think since Melee. I'm not a Melee-tard either, Brawl I enjoy more, but Brawl couldn't top the initial "wow" factor Melee had going in. I feel like SSBWU does that just by having such superb gameplay. I simply find it to be a lot less enjoyable because of small limitations, like the lack of 8-Player Smash stages, the fact that they completely removed standard-sized blocks in Stage Creator, and the fact that multiple modes lack a "retry" button (and that the "quit" combination is awful when you're a GamePad main).

Smash Tour... I am disappointed with, just like I was disappointed with Smash Run on the 3DS. I don't want the modes gone, however. There's definite good aspects to them both that could be ironed out in future iterations of the franchise, and I look forward to that.

Ah yes, the extremely obscure protagonist of the Red Badge of Courage.

That's perfect. I would rather have all of the stages in one spot being awesome, and all of the modes as well.

Everyone wanted the likes of K. Rool, Ridley, Isaac, even Dixie.

I'd say those guys are far more exciting than Rosalina, Greninja, Shulk, Wii Fit Trainer, and Duck Hunt.

Sure you could argue "They turned out to be such fun fighters" but so could anyone! K. Rool could have been just as fun as Duck Hunt. Except K. Rool has one advantage over Duck Hunt... he's freaking King K. Rool! He's someone people love! And that's kind of the point.

I'm sorry, but I was born after the year 2000. Who's K.Rool and Dunk Hunt?

Also I feel like the only disappointment with Rosalina is her voice-acting. I feel like her voice-actress really halfassed things in this game. I can't help but to imagine her rolling her eyes with everything she says in a sarcastic tone ingame. :/

Does she actually have a different VO? I actually started to get used to the random anime voiceactors voicing things in Brawl (that's why Lucario sounded so good. yep)

Except K. Rool wasn't such an impacting part of Nintendo's history that in western regions he was part of a game included with EVERY copy of Super Mario Bros.

Seriously, even as a tremendous fan of Donkey Kong Country AND K. Rool, there's NO comparison between those two characters.
