And a better Classic mode. And a better party mode. And a less frustrating time unlocking everything.

I don't mind unlocking, as long as the methods are varied and fun, yet challenging. Melee did it right. Multi-Man Melee, Targets, Find & Fight Luigi, etc.
Not "Fight 500 Battles, 1000 Battles, 2500 Battles" etc.

i wonder if they'd take out 8-player smash...my eyes are horrid these days, so when the camera is so far away from the players i can hardly see myself.

Sm4sh just made character and stage unlocking such a boring, straightforward affair.

i would have liked sm4sh to have a story arc. most people like crossovers anyway, so it seems unfair that they didn't add something fun and with a plot, at least something like melee's adventure mode.

About the unlocking characters thing, Melee did have the "fight x melees" thing and Sm4sh also had individual challenges in stuff like Multi-Man for its unlocks. You could pick either or.
So... I don't get it. Thanked by: TomGuycott, miyabi95_

In fact, Melee was a WORSE offender of this solely for Mewtwo. Either a MASSIVE number of battles or a massive amount of play hours, no middleground. Kind of sucks if you happen to have to start a new file and want the complete experience faster, as that has nothing to do with skill, it's merely a time lock.

I mean, you only had to unlock like 5 Wii U characters anyway.

Yeah, the problem was that most of the secret characters were kind of bland, either veterans or clones. The only one that stands out among them was Duck Hunt.
Most of the newcomers were revealed prerelease to generate hype, so then they decided not to have them secret. Thanked by: BullockDS

One of the problems with porting the 3DS stages to the WiiU is more or less an asset thing. A lot of the 3DS stages like Prism Tower and Spirit Train take assets from 3DS games, and they'll have to be basically redone in high definition if they want to make them look good in HD. Even the stages taken from Brawl had some upscaling, just look at Hyrule Temple in Smash WiiU.
It's not impossible to do or anything, but it would require work. But I sort of get the feeling if there's actually a Smash 4 on Switch, it'll be a simple port of the WiiU version with all the DLC. Though that's also me being sort of realistic, and also just not excited for another round of Smash Speculation. Thanked by: TomGuycott

That is the main reason I think (disappointly in my opinion) that the 3DS stages probably won't be converted. Basically every asset will have to be made from scratch. Granted, data like how fighters react to terrain is probably able to be transferred over, but making new HD models for all of that may be daunting.

They were able to bring stages from the N64 back for both versions simultaneously. While there will be work involved I don't think it's quite as difficult as some of you are making it out to be.
Besides it makes perfect sense. The Switch is both a console and a portable. Uniting a lot of the content from both versions makes sense. Thanked by: Kriven, Phantom Killah
