I'd like to put in my 2 cents into the fanservice debate: I usually don't mind it when it's in games like Senran Kagura and Dead or Alive for the simple fact I don't play the as I never wanted to play them because I have no interest as to me that has seemed to always be the only thing they've got going for them.
What does bother me is when it appears in an established franchise that didn't have it at first or if it did, the "fanservice" was debatable if it really was fanservice at all. The two that come to mind are Fire Emblem and Digimon both have recently started to get fanservicey (even though in FE's case it's mostly becoming more like a fanfiction dating sim, although there are the beach DLCs who give some very fanservicey poses) in Digimons case just google Kyoko Kuremi, and compare the Angewomon art from back in the day to her recent art.

Sure, I can see that as being a problem because it changes the expectations a series has already established. Like if they suddenly gave Amy Rose jiggle physics and made her pole dance, that would be upsetting because it breaks the franchise and character's established tone. It's kind of a betrayal to existing fans.

Welp, Mai Shiranui's in. Nothing much has changed in her design. That kinda figures though *snicker*...

That's a good thing, though. Some characters of anything are best left unchanged. If only Sega learned that before making Sonic Boom.
While I'm still looking forward to DooM. I'm as annoyed as the community, due to how we've only seen multiplayer gameplay so far.
I want to see more of the single player campaign as I'm not really into playing multiplayer, besides only Splatoon. (Usually during Splatfest)
DooM is one of my favourite games, since I was only five when it first came out. Yeah, I grew up with DOS games more than console ones.
I still play it and try out some of the cool mods available for it. Though, I prefer mods that contain custom enemies and weapons more.
Map-only mods feel boring to me. You guys would think I like playing Brutal DooM, but I got sick of it as much as the modding community did.

I'm totally a loner when it comes to video games lol. I really enjoy the feel of just exploring a game by myself or even challenging myself against the AI (fighting and puzzle games). Thanks to my wonky internet I usually don't look forward to playing online.
If I had friends closeby though (I recently moved to a different state) I definitely wouldn't mind playing literally any game locally with them.

I have one good friend who still comes over to play video games. Glad to have him play co-op on all my Wii U games... That have co-op.
The only game I regularly play with other people is Hearthstone, and that's mostly with just random people (although occasionally with friends). Unfortunately most of my friends don't play the kinds of games I do, although we also just don't really have the time. I wouldn't mind to have some of them over sometime in the midyear break though and play some multiplayer Jamestown or Castle Crashers.

Doom or DOOM - no idea what this DooM business is about... (even googled it to see if ot was actually a thing, it isn't).
Really, alphas and betas now days are only really about testing servers so I'm not surprised more hasn't been shown. I think enough has been shown of the single player to let people determine if they are interested or not. It's shown the slow 'horror' of Doom 3 is gone and we're back to fast Doom. Personally I'd like to hear more of the soundtrack, the classics really rocked but we've heard very little from the new game.
But well, I like it when less is shown. I don't want to see all the enemies or places before I play the game.

You're probably the first to notice my habit of spelling it. It's mostly due to how I see the official logo.
But I guess you do have a point on games not spoiling too much. I'll might check the beta while it's available to download then.
And yeah, I'm itching to hear the music as well. I just want to listen to Mick Gordon's version of At Doom's Gate so bad.

Speaking of servers, anyone hear about what's going on with Blizzard? Sorry for anyone who was affected by that private WoW server being deleted.
(I don't play online games, but I came across that Jontron video)

Would any of you guys use a game rental store if they were still common?

I've got plenty of GameStops near me, but no. I'd rather own something if I'm going to spend money on it. If I want to see what it plays like to make the decision, gameplay videos, or even better, if there's a demo we can download somewhere. I feel like inclusion of free demos of things somewhere ought to be a mandatory practice, because a lot of these game trailers, especially these days, suck. They either show almost none, or entirely no gameplay.

I think with the large prevalence and growing capitalizing on gaming, rentals are pretty obsolete.
HOWEVER, I do live in an area of the US where people who come from low-income families go to mom and pop media/entertainment stores and use Redbox to rent games and whatnot.

(I don't play online games, but I came across that Jontron video) Legally they had every right to do so. It's how they've treated fans who want legacy servers at all that's disgusting ("no [we won't offer legacy servers]. And you think you want that, but you don't"). That is hands down one of the most condescending and arrogant ways you could regard fans.

Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge is coming to Europe April 28th and I'm curious to play it.
I can understand why some may have beef with the fact that you need amiibo to play it and 10 specific ones to complete it, but as someone who's already got 8/10 amiibo and was already planning on buying the 9th (Bowser Jr.) regardless, it's practically free for me. A friend of mine has the other one I'm missing, Rosalina, but maybe I'll get her eventually. I want to complete my Smash Bros. amiibo collection sooner or later anyway.
