So am I. Yes it's not a traditional game in series but as soon-offs go, it looks promising.

Well I see why AM2R was so critical for Nintendo to take down now.
That said, I think I like the look of the sprited fan game better than what Nintendo came up with? This upcoming title just ... doesn't look all that visually impressive/appealing. [EDIT] Okay after watching some of the actual gameplay I guess it actually looks pretty decent. They just didn't make it look all that impressive in the reveal trailer.

I'm not sure if Nintendo took down AM2R because it threatened an upcoming title, or if they saw how that project was doing and decided to cash in on all that fan energy themselves :-\
It's just awfully... convenient that they choose, of all games in their lengthy retro library, to remake Metroid II at this exact moment in time.

Nintendo takes down fan games because - of course they do!
I don't think it has anything to do with future projects etc.

Having actually seen the footage for myself finally, I just wanted to say that Samus Returns looks pretty amazing. I'm looking forward to it a lot.
Nintendo showed a lot of good stuff. Sadly no Monster Hunter Generations+ but, ah well.
I kinda like how they're remaking Mario and Luigi SS - will give more people a chance to play it and adding a twist to it. Prime 4 is also some rather unexpected news and even though I have no idea what the shit is going on with that new Mario it definitely looks interesting. Basically, Nintendo had a brilliant show. That Metroid amiibo looks bloody beautiful as well

The most important thing you should take from this interview is that, according to Reggie, any games Nintendo decides to port from the Wii U to Switch in the future MUST have extra content and MUST be "the definitive version". This is really good news in the case of games like Smash, because it means we'd get more than just a port with all the DLC.

Apart from Zelda (as it was a simultaneous release and not a port) - wasn't this obvious anyway? Like everything has been DX or + or whatever the kids call it.
Like, I don't think anyone would expect a straight port of anything. If Smash came across In would just expect the 3DS courses (yay PAC-MAN maze) and Ice Climbers. Possibly some alt colours/costumes (Breath of the Wild). And well, maybe some Splatoon or ARMs characters. My point is - I don't think anyone even thought a straight port was a possibility. |
