Even though I have a mixed opinion about the style, I think trying to learn how to successfully do it would be a lot of fun.
This actually sounds like a pretty neat sprite activity (hell, even I'd be interested in trying), but Bowser's Inside Story style seems pretty tough. Perhaps Superstar Saga style would be easier to manage.

That may be so, but I think this kind of challenge would make it more fun it do!
Still, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of starting off with that style first in addition to attempting the M&L3 style. I might try to start the spiriting activity when I have the time.

Sorta related, I was browsing the ML:SS section and noticed that no one ripped Chucklehuck Woods. Or the main BeanBean Kingdom overworld. Castle Town's also missing the broken windows and structures after the attack.

Anybody planning to do these can use Yoshi Magic; it has full support for SS. I might do these if nobody else does.
(This thread can be used for SS and PiT stuff as well, since there isn't much left for those. However I would like to keep the focus on BIS so if stuff needs more organisation or starts getting hectic separate threads should probably be made.)

Hey, Puggsoy, you still want Ridge to be a part of this project, right? Well, at the time I'm writing this, he's currently lurking on the web site. I slightly forgot to mention that he tends to lurk on this web site once a month.
I was going to show him the topic through a PM since he's on and all, but he has disabled PMs on his account and there's no way to privately contact him as it is now. What do you reckon we should do about this?

Oh, heh, about that. He replied to me on DA and said that he's been busy and doesn't really feel like working on it anymore. He said he'd put up a post with his current progress of his sheets so people can finish what he didn't, so I'm just waiting for him to do that. I'll edit the OP now to un-claim his stuff.

I seeā¦ Well, considering what kind of reputation he has with this community, I was looking forward to him preserving that reputation by commenting on more threads and doing a sprite topic on the stuff he's currently working on. He mentioned something about working on indie games in the past and I know a lot of people are dying to know more about that.
Aw well, I'm sure you guys would manage fine without him, but it would be a shame that he wouldn't at least be one of the supervisors of the future M&L3 spriting project I mentioned earlier.

Shit this reminds me of that M&L3 duel between Starpower and Ridge Troopa.

Starpower? Do you mean Star, Mighty?
So, do you mind telling me more about this duel? Did anything bad happen, or was it just a friendly competition?

Starpower is Star's old name. It was just a friendly competition that happened a while ago. If you're really interested you could probably find it by searching in the archives. I'd like to not derail this thread into discussion about it though, if that's OK.
It's OK that Ridge can't continue helping, I'm sure we can get it done without him. Hopefully what he's already done will already be a good chunk of help to whoever claims his stuff.

So, I don't really like posting in-progress sprite sheets, but I was hoping it would get this topic some attention.
Really started a few days ago, but I'm working on it a bit every day now.
Nice job
For consistency I'd say try and do it the same way as me, which is lines only on the top and bottom (to show the frame height), and only between frames that are shown at different framerates to the rest of the animation (or otherwise not exactly used in the same way). That way they're easy to use for games or GIFs, and the frame width can be figured out easily by dividing the strip's width by the number of frames.
Of course that's just a suggestion, you can do it whatever you're comfortable with or think is best. Keep it up!

Speaking of consistent layouts, Puggsoy, maybe it would be possible to make all the sprite layouts for the already existing sprite sheets look the same? I've seen a few of the sprite sheets in the M&L3 that could use one.

Maybe... it's not a big deal, and it'd be a pretty big job. To do that you'd also probably have to use Greiga Master's rips so you know the proper frame dimensions (and you may as well since it'll include any missing frames or animations).
As I said it's not a big deal, but if anyone feels like it then be my guest. I might do a couple every now and again after all the sheets are done.
In any case, it would be nice if future sheets could try and be consistent. It's not necessary though (a lot of sheets on tSR are very inconsistent), as long as it's well organised it's fine.

Well, I don't mind that at all, actually. I might consider giving it a try when I have the time.
