This is Neko and Princess' house, based on that from the comic. Even that one white flower is there. That specific flower will only appear this once in the game. My mission is to create big and unique landmarks for each level, so they become distinct. The first level shall not be known as "the grass level", but "that grass level with Neko and Princess' house". This would also make the level easy to recognize on the level map. Just show that house on the map and you'll know it's the level with that house.

This is going to become an actual game? I love the graphical style you are making. Very nice.

Well, I haven't made a game since Princess Fantasy, so I hope all this spritework, character design, story writing and music making will get me motivated enough to actually program this in Game Maker eventually.

Removed the alternate "with grass" tiles, because redundant and can be done in layers. Added new floor variety (stone path) and hanging planter. Meet the first hazard that is sometimes useful: The Boom Shroom! / / It's a mushroom that grows from the ceiling, drops down and explodes after a set time, releasing 4 projectiles. Sounds like it hurts, but the mushroom can be bumped to the left or right by standing under it. Handy if you need to blow up a nearby barricade or defeat a boss or something. Created a different Boom Shroom. Still not completely satisfied, but whatever. Added more tiles, including a redone white flower, girders and rock back wall.

I think the clouds would be fine if they didn't look like they were in a wallpaper pattern.

Well, I use the gradient background as a placeholder for an actual background. I like the gradient though, so I'll keep using that. As for the actual background, I have to make some sketches first and I'll do that once I get some inspiration.
Damn, all this work for just the first world, and I'm planning to make five-ish, not counting secrets! But I want to do this right and make every level as significant as can be. I'll probably redo the cloud, like the tree. Make it larger and possibly create variants. Speaking of which, I need to make some tree variants as well. I have quite the to-do list.

When you least expect it, I drop a sprite. Meet the newest member of the Bouncy Cat universe: Gabbiano the seagull. A gangster notorious for stealing food, especially his favorite: fish and chips. He also enjoys the fishy, doughey taste of fishcakes (he doesn't know they're actually vegitarian, though what's the harm). Gabbiano stalks the Bouncy Cat group, hoping they'll lead him to lots and lots of fishcakes. He may accidentally assist the Bouncy Cat group on his path of gluttony. Does that make him an anti hero or something? (He lacks the dark and edgy, hence my doubt.) Gabbiano is planned to be a playable character in Bouncy Cat 3, along with Neko, Princess, Mao, Bistro the rat, Namazu the catfish, Cider the worm-in-apple and Nousagi the Moon Princess. His ability involves flapping his wings. You'd expect that from a bird, but he doesn't get far. He's way too attached to the fedora he's wearing that's weighing him down. I'm not looking for C+C, but feel free to do so if you want, because I'm still growing. I no longer cry in a fetal position in a dark corner of my room whenever I get constructive critisicm, that's how much I've grown so far. I want to know what you think of this character. I've got quite some characters in the roster already, but I wanted another character so each world can have an unlockable character (W1 Namazu, W2 Bistro, W3 Cider and W5 Nousagi). Note: He's 32x32, because I wanted him to be the same size as Neko and Princess. Edit: I've just nicknamed him "Gabe" so it's easier to work with. Thanked by: E-Man, Bombshell93, Ton

This is what you get when you scan a Bouncy Cat Neko amiibo in Super Mario Maker. If only... Thanked by: Ton

Firstly, his head looks weird when he's skidding. I know what you were trying to do, but I think it need more motion or something. It just looks awkward. Second....he's blending in with the forum theme .

o i posted waaaay too late but a wee bit of C&C
(07-06-2015, 06:05 PM)NICKtendo DS Wrote: for a gangster, he seems...really non-threatening (and not gluttonous, either). but he kinda has the look of a slacking detective... a private eye hired by a shady, rotund mob boss (bulldog???) tryin' to get some answers and stalkin' the Bouncy Cat group tryin to get the skinny on the CATS but maybe them fishcakes'll have him playin a different tune if yaknowadimean Thanked by: Ton
