The laziness here is appalling.
Samus gets an entire second character slot with a completely original moveset and second costume for it.
True, but it's just not the same.

Is he going to be an assist trophy, an alternate color for Pit, or a playable character?
I find it funny that you walked into the wrong topic so ironically man.

So, that's an interesting way to align your menus.
I assume the huge ass Smash icon on the main menu serves as a hotkey for the Group option found in Games and More.

The Group Icon shows two players teaming up on a Stadium-Mode Mii. I think the large "Smash" icon brings you straight to the standard Smash mode, and the "Group" option under "Games & More" is for other multiplayer modes like multiplayer Stadium modes or multiplayer All Star Mode like Brawl had. Maybe they'll even have a multiplayer Classic mode this time?

Hm. But Zelda and Sheik get the same ones? How odd.
I'm assuming Games & More may have demos of various retro Nintendo games, similar to what Brawl did.

I guess Sakurai is either trying to remove as much randomness out of the game as possible, removing everything Waddle Dee related from DDD, or changing Final Smashes that could have problems running on the 3DS.

Um ... today's update literally shows us what is inside Games & More. Did you read the entire thing? http://smashbros-miiverse.com/pic-of-the-day/2014-09-05

So what is it exactly? I see there's a bomb involved but not much is explained here.
Either way I am very very disappointed. If Bandana Dee were making it into the game as a playable character I could understand wanting to avoid confusion but since that doesn't appear to be happening removing all signs of Dedede's relationship with his Waddle Dees is disappointing. I highly doubt this has anything to do with the Waddle Dees found in Smash Run, since it doesn't appear that Final Smashes are used in that mode.
Oh, I didn't realize that. My bad.

No biggie.
By the way, they updated the music page with some more songs at some point. http://www.smashbros.com/us/music/

I was looking at the site eariler, just checking out some screenshots when I noticed that everything looks very low-poly, at least when compared to other Nintendo developed Wii U titles. Does anybody else feel that way?

Wasn't this announced WAAAAAAAAAAAAY in advance by Sakurai? Like, before they were even really sure they wanted a fourth game? I seem to remember reading that Nintendo reps were mad at Sakurai (or someone, maybe it wasn't him) for talking about it before it was supposed to be public because Brawl was supposed to be the last game.
It wouldn't surprise me if this started its life as a Wii game and was later moved over to Wii U (and 3DS) when they were sure they wanted to make it.

That was Iwata who spilled the beans, but I was fairly certain it was just in conceptual stages at the time as Sakurai was preoccupied with Kid Icarus: Uprising.
Edit: I don't know about reps. being upset about it, but Sakurai was pretty miffed at Iwata for tying him to a project he wasn't even asked to sign on with at the time.
