Paper Mario animations

I feel comfortable with Luigi's sketches and I'm ready to ink them. I'll just leave what I have here in case you have any two-cents you want to give.

When I was working on the Poltergust, I actually found another system of sketching. While I'll keep using multiple completed strokes, I'll use an eraser to "sculpt" the sketch lines to my liking. Even then, though, I'll still add more sketch lines in case the erasing ends up making the shape a little funny. I'll repeat the cycle of drawing and erasing until I end up with a shape I'm pretty much happy with. How does that sound?

Looks pretty great so far, although their eyes feel a little... off.

I appreciate the compliment, but how exactly are the eyes off? They seem fine to me, but what do you have in mind? Should they be bigger? Have a bit of a shine to them?

I recently finished all the inks for Luigi's parts. I'm sorry they took longer than expected, but I was on vacation and I also wanted to make the base colors at the same time. What do you think? By the way, this goes without saying, but the abundance of blank space will not be in the final version of this sheet.

I just finished up some additional Luigi parts today. There's still more to do, but I think it's working out well enough (at least in my opinion). Also, when I was shading Luigi's hat from the back angle, I noticed that I liked it better than the original one I used for Mario's hat. Since it's not that big of a texture tweak (in regards to changing the texture around for the model I mean) and sheet updates are a thing, I don't mind making an update of Mario's hat. How did I do on this?

By the way, I was wondering if you'd guys be okay with me creating a Tumblr blog for not only development for this project, but also anything else I might develop and other things that pop into my head at the time. What do you think of that?

Yeah, it looks like he's trying to look behind him at Mario sneaking into the cupboard without him noticing. :/

We don't care. But like, in a good way. I mean like, just do it.

Okay, how about this then?

In addition to moving the eye in the back angle, I also made the side head. Plus, based on Neweegee's suggestion, I redid the shading for both hats.

As for the Tumblr blog, it's done!

I don't mean to sound needy here, but I'll appreciate it if more people were to check out my Tumblr blog and this project in gernal since any kind of positive support goes a long way. You'll find the blog by clicking here.

By the way, I finished my progress on Luigi's primary body parts. Once I complete his Poltergust parts, I'll be on my way to arrange a sheet. For pre-made poses, I'm thinking of only doing the Spring Jump poses, while I give most of the hammer action to Mario. How does that sound?

Now then, here are the parts I made so far.

Just a quick update to make sure if I'm on the right track. How did I do on these?

As for the Poltergust 5000, I wasn't entirely sure how to shade it (especially with the flat surfaces), so I had t.o do my best based on my understanding of shading in general. I also had thoughts on allowing the option to change it into its 3000 counterpart by removing the back bits off of it. What do you think?

I've been thinking about this for a while, but I'm trying to decide if staying active on this web site is worth all the stress or not. Besides other things that happened on this site in 2015, I'm very uncomfortable with seeing two relatively good users on this site snap for certain reasons. I mainly started my Tumblr as an alternate place for me to upload my work and share my thoughts in case my anxiety drives me away from this place. Please forgive me for bringing something like this up.

By the way, to show I'm not posting this without any progress to show…

With all the parts for the Poltergust 5000 completed, I'm ready to move onto organizing a sheet. See anything that bothers you?

Something that I didn't expect came to my attention after I accidentally opened my copy of Microsoft Word. I never had a reason to open it after backing up my entire computer from the faulty hard drive, but when I did open it, it gave me this window where I have to register the license or something like that. I checked out my other applications not from the Adobe line (ironically, those are still working) to see if the same fate happened to them, and my fears about this situation are realized when not even Maya is functioning. Even though I can still create the textures in Photoshop, they won't be useful at all unless I somehow sort out my licensing problems.

EDIT: Ignore most of that. After working with someone from Full Sail, I managed to get Maya back. While I can't say the same for the other applications I have, at least I'm not out of the animation business just yet.

Even though I'm feeling better about my art skills due to a pep talk by Sketchasarus, I'm becoming less and less comfortable with this community. In spite of that, I'll still post updates here and upload my sprits on the main site as long as nothing bad pops up. Don't forget to follow me on my Tumblr blog.

Now then… Here is Luigi's completed sheet. Before I finally submit this bad boy, does anything look off?

Luigi's sideburns look weird in the back angle and side angle

I'll try looking into those, but please understand that altering the sideburns is very difficult because I need to prevent the ears from overlapping with them in an odd way. With that said, there's probably very little I can do about it.

EDIT: I played around with the original outline for that version of the head (the one on the very left is the original one). Is it any good?
