Little side project. Thumbs up if you can tell what this is. I might just make a little ScepticEye 2D shooter, as a little side project. What do you think of the sprites? The two bottom sprites are a shot and charged shot.
EDIT: Changed the shading a little.

I dont really feel confident with these PBG sprites. They don't really resemble him as much anymore, and they feel off. I think I might redo them (again). But I'm not sure if that's really necessary. Should I redo them?
EDIT: Scratch that. I redid the head and now I like it a lot better.
The ones with a line through it I'm making new ones.

I tried a KSSU style Mario. What do ya think?

It looks like something out of KSSU (if it had humans)! My only critique would be to put some shading on the left (his right) leg and make the skin tone a bit lighter. Or less shading around the face, maybe it's already the right color.

Lightened tone, switched from the pinkish SMW shade to Classic red. Plus Super Mushroom.
Also, after I finish the basic Mario sprite, I wanna do more characters in the KSSU style, any suggestions?

Updated Mario, and tried Samus.

Samus is too fat, or should be taller.
That's all I gotta say, the shading and stuff is right.

I gotta say, I'm having fun working with the KSSU style.

Looking better. All that can come to mind is that the red chest area below the head should be facing the angle the rest of the body's at. Should also be a bit smaller, I think.
I explained that horribly.

mario and samus should both be bigger than kirby if theyre gonna be in that style. the mario ref you should use is when he is in the crowd in the fighting arena.
also, please refrain from choosing dull colors from the palette. that only makes it look less in style, compared to the other KSSU sprites.

Aw man. I really grew fond of the two little sprites. But if you say so.
I didn't get the chance to fix the pallete because it's hard to find the right colours, or just finding the proper pallete at all. I'll fix Samus and the pallete later.

The eye's shading needs to be rounder so it follows the shape. Here's an image that shows the "anatomy" of shading: http://www.cityschools.com/britchie/file...re-1_1.jpg
Also, for the bow's release animation, it should just snap back into the neutral position instead of ease into it. Even if you play it fast, it's still going to look weird. Maybe you could have one frame that shows the string in multiple positions at once to give a sort of motion blur without smearing it.

To help with your palette troubles (And hopefully Wikipedia isn't messing with me), the DS uses a 18-bit RGB. For 3D or, whatever 2D blended is.
But strictly 2D, the DS uses a 15-bit RGB...like the GBC and GBA.
Way to step up your color game, guys!
Hopefully that helps.

ill supply a palette edit later, dont worry.
one thing i really recommend atm is that you should seriously look at some mario reference. heres what i found that should help you with the face:
notice that the top of his hat has two curves instead of one. or how about his forehead is still showing, even if he is wearing a cap. hell, his nose even pops out of his face! these are the sort of things you should take account for. notice details like this, and he'll start looking more like mario in no time!
also, a suggestion from me is that you should make his eyes resemble kirby's eyes, just to really put emphasis that this sprite is in that style.
