Developer's struggle with artists
#1
Sad
HI! I'm a game developer (duh...)
I've been having a lot of issues with artists (sprite and background alike) during my whole section of game building, even though the artists say they're interested and say they love the story, they tend to disappear after 1/2 weeks.
The artist that's with me is probably the only artist who has done work (for example the main menu) and I fear my game's never going to reveal it's true potential.
Does anyone else have this issue?
If you would like to read the storyline or ask anything about the game, please feel free to email me at GearGameProduction@Gmail.com
I won't mind some critics to judge the story/symbols in the game

Are you paying these artists?

If not, there's your problem right there.
If people are working for free there's no obligation to work for you.

I have the same problem, and I am paying. The problem for me is that my artist works on public slots, so I have to grab them when he's open or wait for the next round. It's possible your artists just don't have the time, too, since real life gets in the way of everything.

Yeah, artists can be a pain at times, I should know because I am one haha. I actually had a bit of a struggle working on a game with some friends, never really getting a chance for my work to be put into any functioning part of the game before the project was dropped and I picked up the pieces. Sitting on it for now until I see the chance to bring it back from the dead.

I feel like a big part for an artist's involvement with any project is how compelling the idea sounds and whether it's something that motivates the artist to create, regardless of pay or not. I somewhat envy though can create with no regards to whether they are interested or not, because they''re like heartless robots who just get the job done with a "industry like standard".
Be original, be creative, be fresh, be righteous, be yourself and let no one stop you!

If you've been following PewDiePie than you will know that he just hosted a game jam. If you actually have taste, you probably didn't. However, I participated in the jam and created a little game I like to call "Loose Cannons". I did all the programming and sprite work, and Sketchasaurus did the music and made the background.

Does this count as thread hijacking?

Well it talks about an artist relation with others involved in a game creation so seems decently relevant?

If not, only if the thread continues with that topic...so let's get back to what the original discussion was in that case.

The issue is that that post was taken from here. It's probably a bot.

Why am I super impressed with this bot's ability to stay relevant within the limits of this topic...?
