Ooooh, cute! You managed to catch a lot of the details. The tail just looks a bit jaggy in some places, and the belly has a sharp corner on it. The shading could do with either some more contrast or a palette trim.

The outlines are very light. I'd suggest making them darker.

First off let me say that for your first piece of pixel art you did really well. Bravo!
I've made a few edits to your original to illustrate some points. I hope you do not mind. #1 Line consistency Lines need to "flow" a lot of times you'll see pixel artists refer to lines as jaggy, this means that there is an uneven distribution of pixels on a line that makes them look sharp, or crooked. I've fixed a couple of jaggy places in your line art(mainly the tail area), there are still a few (one is above the left foot) but you probably get the idea. #2 too many colors/ colors that are too similar. A lot of times, pixel artists tend to go with a color then just keep adding black to it to make it darker. Don't do this, instead go for a darker variation of another color. For instance, you used pink as your main color, try using a darkish purple as your darker shades. This adds for contrast to your piece. You want to make sure that each individual color is distinguishable for a distance. A good rule of thumb is to stand a few feet from your monitor and look at your pixel art, if there are two colors that seem to just blend together into one color, then one of those colors needs to go or needs to be changed to something lighter/darker. I hope this helps, good luck with your further pixel endeavors! |
