Tried the rank mode. Yeah, I'm gonna leave this one for a while, as I'm up to level 10 and my team got slaughtered first time trying it.
Besides that, I'm having fun playing turf war, finished playing an hour ago since it was playing it since 5 PM Australian Time.

The Miiverse posts give me a good laugh. Besides Squidward, I've seen ones with Gaston, Cthulhu, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
You'd think they'd be more posts featuring Squid Girl. At least there's this official crossover art made to promote the game.

okay I didn't give a legit reason before, but I think I'm gonna hold off on ranked until I've maxed out my levels and have the three-star gear I need. I'm...not entirely sure what abilities I need yet, though to stay relevant in this game though lol. I was too bushed to play last night; I think I'm just eternally damned to be mediocre at videogames for the rest of my life

Jesus I'm almost level 10 in this game and after reading the last few posts on Ranked mode I'm not even sure if I'm gonna try it out right away.

Kind of sucks but who knows I've only just gotten this game.

also, i've been playin around with more of the guns. apparently, i'm a scrub and i humbly apologize. the splattershot jr. is a GREAT weapon, but you have to pick and choose your battles really carefully. you can outgun people and make quite a mess of the stage, but you have to REALLY know JUST when to use your special (the bubbler).

i also unlocked the aerospray MG about 20 minutes ago. I went online with it and went over 1k in each match. the gun shoots way too fast and your opponent has barely any time to react. you instantly win matchups, and the special/subweapon are baby easy to operate. the RG version (gold-colored upgrade?) has slightly more technical subweapons (one is a FUCKING WARHEAD) but is equally stupid af


tl;dr aerospray guns are fucking scrub guns for baby scrubs who drink the baby milk of mommy squid. real men use the splattershot guns.

Finally managed to nab this game yesterday, did some battling, and got through the first two areas of the single-player mode. Really fun stuff, from what I've played so far.

I do hope they include non-ranked variations of Splat Zones and all the other extra modes they showed during the Direct, though, just to suit those who prefer playing online in a more relaxed environment.

So as I've cried about it before the Aerospray RG is a scrub toy and massively OP. Jump into your opponent's face and have them taste your sweet justice and if that's not enough, fire off an Inkstrike and make them scramble in fear to cover up the mess you just made.

originally joking around "ahaha that's the scrub gun dont use it", I just kinda snapped yesterday while playing with friends
to drive the point home, halfway through playing i left the lobby and picked the gun, coming back and just completely wrecking face. and i'm all "what'd i tell you? it's scrub gun. i'm not even trying this gun is seriously gerber gun"

I've been using it all evening and I'm going 1100+ each game and getting like a 10-game win streak. This gun's seriously garbage, and I'd say it's probably more annoying than the Krak-on Roller because you can just go full aggro and be the king of all teams without really trying. I think what the most annoying part of the gun is, though is the Inkstrike: you can fire off an Inkstrike literally the second the match ends and it'll make a big painty crater in the enemy's territory and they can't clean it up. It's the dirtiest tactic and I've been using it just to show how incredibly fucking grimy this gun is. I'm ready to go back to the Splattershot Jr. at any time, but...seriously

tl;dr I fucking hate this gun so much I'm just gonna use it until enough people complain to Nintendo and
1) Items like Killer Wail and Inkstrike get nerfed: if only their AOE cease operation the second "GAME!" appears. Yes that means you'll be strategizing more to fire it off the second the countdown appears onscreen, but at least the enemy can get in some last-minute paint (you can pretty much negate the effect of an Inkstrike just by shooting it while it's spreading)
2) They actually do something like buff the HP players have, or minimize the AOE splatter they distribute upon defeat so it actually makes sense to shoot the ground and not your opponents

Fuck The Aerospray RG it's A Piece Of Shite. as far as I'm concerned the MG is fine; the RG is waaaay overpowered due to the effects of its sub and special weapons

Someone data mined Splatoon and found an ass load of things, because most of the newly released stuff is on disc. 33 new weapons. Two new stages, and a game mode that hasn't been revealed yet. There are also pictures of most of the weapons too
