sonic generation model rigs...

Hey everyone! So I am wanting to try out my animating skills in blender, and wanted to use the sonic generations modern sonic model to do so... the only problem is.... the rigs arent really suited up for animation..... any tips on getting this baby rigged?

ok, so I found out that it actually is a fully rigged model, but it will only show all the animation points in a certain viewing mode.... and I dont know how to access it! I need some help badly

here is a picture of the current rig, it doesnt have any joint bones (upper arm, knees, toes, etc.) which is what I need in the first place:
