But to me this is basically the same members, same admins. But we could have called this forum PT2, but instead we called it TSR. Back when PT was still running, you submitted sprites to TSR. So basically this is the same forum upgraded, but slight changes. So I think we need the same competition idea as TUGS, but with a different name. Also the new PT isn't really official, and there is hardly anyone there. If the forum was full of life we would keep TUGS there. But I think we should have a replica of TUGS here.

tSR is the offspring of PT. I understand that they're meant and wanted to be seperate entities, but when it gets down to it, same forum, different name....for the most part.

As with the matter of TUGS, I think tSR and PT both are too "new" at this point to even hold a tournament of that calibur right now. tSR has too many beginners and not enough active spriting members to make the tournament work while PT is still building it's self back up and isn't as active as it was the last few TUGS. The prospect of a spriting competition on tSR is a novel idea but at this point in time, I don't think either forum would be up to it right now.

That's basically what they're saying, same competition, different name.

What's "official"? When Kosheh made the forum, there was no "official" PT.
TsRC is not PT either, since it was formed before the "official" PT was abandoned by Jordan.
EDIT:
TK posts fast. Yeah.

this post makes the most sense in this topic

just wait.

keep having the sprite compos that we're having and when both forums are more prosperous we can decide who gets to "keep" TUGS i guess you could say.

And to clarify the whole "unofficial PT" thing;

Jordan owned the "original" PT
Jordan got tired of owning the PT domain
Kosheh motioned that he would either buy it or find something else to do as long as PT continues to live.
During its final weeks, Kosheh made "PTemp"
PT closed down and everyone went to either tSR, PTemp or both
Kosheh had trouble working the forum so he gave me admin for a day so I could help organize the forum.
He made me mod a couple days later
Kosheh got tired of owning PTemp and gave me admin position
I reorganized the forums and the moderating team and planned the PT website
Badassbill said that he'd let us use his webspace, so I adminned him

So technically, BaB and I are the owners of PT now. Since it still seems to be open, we'll probably buy the domain from Jordan and it'll officially belong to us.

You have a good point Teeks, maybe we are not ready right now, and Tyvon I agree as well we should keep having the compos. And what I meant about the new PT being unofficial was that Kosheh made a replica, and it wasn't the forum it used to be.

Also what happend to Sol's post?

EDIT: Oh okay now I see the rest of your post Tyvon, gotcha. But yeah nobody is really on anymore?

people are online on PT all the time, but they lurk instead of post. hence; inactivity

if the members that joined actually posted it would be all good

there was a big burst of activity when i organized the forums and announced the site planning, but it's been dwindling ever since.

Whether it's what it once was or not, it's still PT. It's called PT. It has PT members. It's PT. And nobody's saying we can't both have Spriting Tournaments, they'd just have different names. But we couldn't handle them right now as it is, as I said. I mean come on, look at the competitions on tSR. Not only does hardly anyone enter, they last way longer than they're supposed to and never get a poll made in time. They basically just sit there for a month at a time, inactive with nothing happening. And I don't know if PT has even attempted a sprite compo, but with it's little activity, I can't imagine they're doing so hot there either.

So basically, keep going with regular, weekly compos but come up with a better system to keep them going. As the forums continue to grow and what not, maybe by this time next year or even sooner, both forums would be ready for a big, forum-wide tournament.

And this could just be me, but I'd love to see a tSR/PT Spriting Tournament. TWO FORUMS! ONE TOURNAMENT! ONE MILLION PIXELS!

that would work out really well if PT were as active as tSR.

both forums could contain secret forums where only people who entered in the tournament could see, and both forums would make one large canvas of spriting and then we'd vote on which one is better.

^Winning Post!^

Also whats with TSR compo 4? Xgamer has already swept the board, and is winning by a half. This is why I think these are not ending in time. One reason is that the choice of what you are required to sprite for the compos is too boring. And there should be what I call a "Mercy Rule" Which basically means that if someone is winning overwhelmingly and there is absolutely no way the other participants can come back, you should just end the compo, and let the winner start a new one to save time.

CoolYoshi, I deleted the post you mentioned as I decided it didn't really add anything to the discussion.

And I kind of like Teeks' idea, but PT would need a significant increase in activity before we could do that, like Tyvon said.

Well, like I said in the same post, both still have a lot of work to do before they'd be ready for a tournament. I was just throwing the idea out there for when the time comes.

I like the idea of having a Pt/tSR competition at a later date, but I really don't think it should be all of one vs all of the other. What about people who are members of both? lol everyone. It could work having some sort of team elements but having all of one vs all of the other would be dumb.

Not all vs one, it could be elimination rounds on both sides, and the best five go on to compete against the other forum's top five.
