To me, Undertale has already gotten overrated and hyped up the ass way too quickly. Just like Five Nights at Freddie's.
It's really making me NOT want to check the game out. Sorry guys, I'm not jumping on this bandwagon.
That sounds mildly like hipster logic to me, sounding almost like "I don't like Mario because everyone loves him and he's everywhere". Though it is easy to burn out on an idea when it is literally everywhere. I could also definitely agree if you, say, had everything already spoiled by the internet.
I feel like it's a game you'd actually like if you gave it a shot. Maybe if you have a friend who has it (given its popularity, you probably can find someone), then maybe you could give it a little bit of a try and see whether you like it before you buy it.

I uhh, really hate when people say something is overhyped/overrated when they haven't even tried it or checked it out. /:
Honest, this game deserves much of the positivity it receives. Trust me, I was sick of seeing it everywhere too. Then I tried it.
At least give the demo a go or try a friend's copy so that you can either: see why everyone is raving about it or get actual sound justification for your skepticism.
TLDR: Don't knock it 'til you try it, bro.

Well even when you have tried it, it's still annoying seeing the same thing everywhere you go, no matter how good it may or may not be, lol. That sort of thing doesn't have the prerequisite of experiencing whatever the thing is. Only when one judges the quality of the game itself does it require the experience. But the people and media surrounding it?
It's no different than say... that stupid viral black and blue dress that people were arguing over.
You don't even have to know what source it came from, or why people are talking about it to find it annoying and overhyped.

that dress is pretty though
as in
it's ok that the hype and the trending stuff is retarded, I think that too
but the dress is pretty - it's a genuinely good piece of clothing
same with the game, there are retarded things going on with the hype but it is still a well crafted game.

My point was that it shouldn't be deemed as "overhyped" unless you try it and as I said, actually see for yourself why it is, or if you don't like it, then your feeling like it is garnering too much attention is truly justified. I'm not saying it's not annoying seeing the same thing everywhere, namely if you're not into it.
...Beat Sans! Holy shit man like, I actually beat him the first time I loaded up the game today. After 50 tries or so before. Like what even happened I DON'T KNOW I WAS SO IN THE ZONE and seriously got to the end with 1 health. I found it hilarious how his special attack was literally nothing, and omg that was the longest staredown ever and I didn't realize I had to actually move the confinement area and HOLY CRAP his last line oh man oh boy my body wasn't ready to finally witness his death ;~;
rest in pieces my precious Sannamon bun.
OKAY so in regards to the ending...
First off, damn. Poor Asgore didn't get no chances. Secondly, holy shit Flowey. I gotta admit a small part of me felt satisfied watching Frisk (maybe Chara to a degree at this point??) mercilessly mutilate Flowey. But thirdly... I don't know if I really have words to describe my feelings about that whole final scene, but I can now say with certainty:
fuck Chara. I'm not even that mad at Flowey/Asriel anymore despite what he did. Seriously this brat kinda makes me want to core-reset if only to send her back to hell lmfao
Sooo after that, I am now trying a post-Genocide True Pacifist. I then might try a Neutral or standard Pacifist since I'd never done that. I'll see how it goes. Part of me wanted to do double-Genocide to get it over with but a big part of me feels it's not worth it since I've essentially read the general idea of what happens. Regardless, I have now experienced the three major paths and don't have to worry about spoilers anymore! Yay!!

After reading what you fellas said, I'll might wait a while before I try the game out. Maybe if there's plans for a GOG.com release.
The only RPGs I've played the most have been Ultima VII, Diablo trilogy, Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, and First Person Dungeon Crawlers.
But I have checked out some via emulators. It's sad that PAL region players never got to enjoy some cult classics on the SNES.
Reason I bought both Earthbound games on Wii U was because I always wanted to try them out due to the wackiness of the series.
Another nitpick is how quickly perverted and pornographic art showed up. It borders towards disturbing fantasies than fanservice.
Even I have standards with things like that, usually prefer tamer stuff. I feel like the guy on the left here with those turds sometimes.
The character designs are not bad, though. Goofy skeletons, crazy looking monsters and animals are pretty much my thing.
Dude, rule34 is as certain as death, as sick as it is. Life is harsh..

Man, don't remind me. Even just visiting Undertale's KYM image gallery alone is full of that garbage, with the users hellbent on defending it.
Some other websites are like that. To those with an opinion of disgust or pointing out a picture's crossing the line.
*Notices Google news articles regarding Undertale*
Okay, now that's stupid. I don't know who that old fart is, or the show for that matter. But he needs a slap on the back of the head.

It's just soccer moms with too much time on their hands, lol. Remember how shocked they were when they found out that the Super Nintendo was entirely new hardware, and you needed it to play SNES games?

you're sounding a bit like Koh right now before he purchased Undertale, dolph. lol did you guys say the same thing when Shovel Knight came out?
It's actually not a bad game - I'm getting the vibe that you don't like the game because it's liked by a majority of people and that majority happens to be a group full of idiots. Every fandom is shit, and if you're gonna judge a game by something like that you might want to reconsider using the Internet.
Actually, if you like Earthbound for its quirkiness, you'll probably love the absolute everloving shit out of Undertale, as the game has that same kind of witty writing and the same kind of dark turn that Earthbound games had. In fact I'd say that it's probably more interesting than Earthbound as the game puts a very unique spin on battles, and has you make some hard choices based on them. If you cleared it like you would Earthbound, the game scolds you for doing so. The fact that you have to strategically play through battles by sparing characters for a "good" ending actually adds a puzzle-game element to battles (albeit a really weak one; each battle becomes challenging as you have to find a creative way to end the battle through nonviolent means without fleeing)
I'd probably check Steam later this month during the Autumn sale or the Holiday sale - but even if it doesn't go on sale, it's only $10. I've been more disappointed spending $40 on Nintendo's recent titles, honestly. :/

Do you just...read headlines and just make assumptions based on them? I hate being an asshole right now, but seeing your last sentence here kinda made you just come off as ignorant :/
Some crazed overly-Christian mother sent a distressed email asking the 700 Club what to do in that situation, as she thinks that maybe the hooded skeleton actually is demonic.
Pat Robertson is pretty much an old fart who's the prime example of a clock being right twice a day, and for sure we can probably agree on the fact that he hasn't played Undertale so he couldn't say "Oh! He's not a bad guy!! Don't worry!!" so
he had literally zero context on what exactly or who the idea behind the character is.
Considering he knows absolutely squat, he actually answered handled the question really well: Try not to force your daughter away from it, and to give her more videogames.
But yeah, it's the soccer mom in question who's saying anything bad - not Pat Robertson, who just did what he could with the shitty no-context sundae he was handed.

I like the game. I only wish the Genocide run wasn't so easy, but the game is still definitely worth checking out.
