Lego Island ripping
#1
Ok I have just had a harebrained scheme in my head and I'm going to ask since it would help the Resource I thought I'd bring it to the experts.

Anyway I have decided to take up a small hobby of making custom Lego Mini-Figures for myself, friends and my father's band. The first ones I want to try to do are of course the cast of Lego's first Game. One of the first games ever made to require DirectX alongside The Lion King I grew up with it and always wanted a Infomaniac Fig. (Sadly I only got the game after the figure was discontinued)

So I wanted to know if anyone knows of any ripper program that can extract the textures from Lego Island. I plan to rip it myself but you know I'm a spriter and not yet skilled at sprite ripping only makeing my own so any help you guys could offer would be welcome.

Thanks for your time.

I take it you mean to create your own “Infomanic?” Well, I’ve got something that will knock your socks off. Have you heard of a place called “BrickLink?” It has tons, TONS, of LEGO parts, sets, and minifigures there that you would never believe. Go ahead and check it out, you’ll find an “Infomanic” there if you’d like.

Oh I'm so sorry for only now getting back to you. Yes I know of Bricklink it is a great place. I work for the RBC shop on custom designs. They are still in the works to be put up on shop at the moment but they have all be okayed by the owner.

Also I am not trying to thread necrosis here I only wanted to get a reply back if need be feel free to lock this thread to keep any rules from being broken. I'll create a proper topic when I need help again.

The textures can indeed be extracted, I've got all the character textures attached since that's what you're looking for.

Thank you for helping out Plokman, and I’m sure he would appreciate it greatly.  Big Grin

Somebody have the 3d models? I'm searching for the terrain, the island.

jofo91, you might want to take a look at MattKC's part 2 decomp video. He said that the 3D models are stored in world.wdb using some proprietary format.

Places to get help:
DYKG/VG Resource Discord - This is where most of the ripping experts on the VG Resource hang out these days, so you should probably start here. Any requests to rip stuff (i.e. "Please rip sounds/models/sprites from game X!") are only allowed here as per the rules.

ResHax forum - Another forum that is home to most of the reverse engineers who were on the old ZenHax and XenTax forums. A great place to get help for any mysterious files. I'm also there under the same username.

And remember, always upload example files. That way, people don't have to dig in and fetch them for you.

I assume you mean SIEdit? Try downloading libweaver.zip, unzipping it in a folder, and running si-edit.exe.
