Also, agreed. The size is pretty tiny in the game, from what I've seen (since it's not out here) the ball is like, the size of Mario?

Don't forget what I suggested in the Sprite Discussion thread. Use a colored outline for the Smash Ball. A pure black outline ruins the sprites.
