Know any "unrippable" games? I'm great at breaking things

Rage (pc) (I know there are some importers but they never work for me and no one seems to care enough to help me make them work or make a better tool)
stuntman ignintion (ps2)
fuel (pc) same issue as rage ninja ripper just cannot rip it to save it's life.
Toy soilders war chest (pc) has a somewhat familure format for the file system but nothing that seems to accept the file extention seems to want to import it anywhere
farcry 4 (pc) there are some file extractors but no ones been able to take it beyond opening the file archives and pulling out the files.
L.a. Noire (pc) ninja ripper works for some people but I could never get it to run on that game. while same issue as farcry there is a file extractor but it leaves the files in it's
native .chunk format and so far no one's been able to make an importer for anything using that format.

over all I could care less about set peices. I am a weapons, vehicles and sometimes characters type of guy. if you want to know what I want most of out of each of these games then pm me and I'll list off what I need most to save you time. anyways hope you can help. if not then well thanks for offering.

What about Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity and Coraline Wii? I had trouble ripping those games.

NO$GBA PRO can rip sprites with very powerful tools(debuggers...), for GBA,DS and DSI.

I've never had luck even running games on NO$GBA, so I abandoned using it altogether.

And, I'm specifically looking for models and textures, in this case.
Problem is the devs for both of these games, well... I haven't he slightest clue what they did with the file formats, or even what any particular file is for.

I could provide a screenshot, but I'd need time

Can the game be emulated with Desmume ?

Which things do you want? I am currently ripping most of the starwars stuff out of version 3.0 but I could grab 2.0 stuff. pm me with your list for disney infinity and I'll see what I can do.

  • The game is 1997 (running on DirectX 5, yo) making it too old for any ripper programs like Ninja Ripper or 3D Ripper.
  • The textures can already be extracted in a way from the game's files itself, so if you can't get those we should be okay on those.
  • I've attempted using Ninja Ripper on PSX emulators already, but either it a), doesn't work, b) freezes the program on the open file dialogue so I can't even reach the game.

pc edtion might be your best bet. now yes older ninja rippers can't work with direct x 5 but 1.5.1 has two different settings for direct x games that are 5 and below. it may still not work but it's a good start so update your copy if you haven't and see about a pc copy.

Both games run in Desmume, and I've made significant progress on both, actually.
They're two of three games I've grabbed Roms of that I've actually made a genuine effort to complete.
That I recall, I've had only one game not seem to run right, but maybe I just didn't know what I was doing with the controls: Garfield A Tail of Two Kitties.

The one thing to note is fresh copies of Solatorobo have an anti-piracy thing that has to be patched.
IDK if it'd affect ripping, but it hinders gameplay early on.

Alright, I already own the PC copy so I'm good on that.

As for the settings, you mean the "save DirectDraw surfaces" checkbox under the settings popup? Nothing.
The only two settings that create a folder are Injector - nothing happens on key presses with this one, not even force key press (even with rip DirectDraw setting on), and DDraw Wrapper - that causes a "ReleaseDDThreadLock could not be found in the dll"' error.

You say there are "two settings", I'm not sure if there is another option I missed somewhere.

I'm not sure how useful it would be, but here is the injector mode log with save DirectDraw turned on:
I said DirectX 5 because the readme says "DirectX Version 5 or above", but the log has mentions of DirectX 6, so there ya go.

forgive me as I have had a procedure on my back and are recovering as we speak. I saved your log and will sort through it as best I can. shoot I had high hopes that would clinch it for you but it seems it hasn't.  the only other way we'll get to this, thinking of my other methods of extracting is know what file format the 3d models are in. if you don't know then get me screencaps of the install folder in your programs files and I can see what it may run on and if there is a tool for it. there is another forum called xentax which has an "old games" forum where people try to crack old old games on there they might know more then me when we figure out the model format or archive. hope that helps for now sorry I cannot do more.

Desmume rendering analyser can help you to see which sprite is loaded in current rendering so you can extract it.

How about Tiny Toon Adventures: Defenders of the Universe? I tried to rip models from that back in 2014. It was originally intended to be released for the PS2 but it got cancelled for some reason and ended up going unreleased and abandoned. From what I know, models are .mld and textures are .tex, but they didn't show up in Noesis due to there being garbled text in the .mld files when viewed in Notepad.

Umm, what's that and how do i get it?

also, doing some google searches on the file formats, someone else did take interest in ripping.
i also just google searched for models, and rips have been done, but there's a lot of stuff that definitely hasn't been ripped yet.
For now, I'll suspend my request for that game, and see if I can figure-out how it was ripped, first.

i'm not so sure about the DS version of Bionicle Heroes, though.
I decided to do a quick google search again, someone took interest in it, but I'm not sure if they made any other progress. There are no replies or updates to the post I found:.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/bionicle-her...es.369982/
I also haven't any idea how they figured-out to extract rom.bin
I could try to provide that file if needed, but no guarantees...

That is all

The archive for this game was actually cracked on zenhax, which is kinda of like a division of xentax, it's the forum of the QuickBMS creator.
I posted about it there, didn't really get much help.

Also, well that went well for the .map files (not my topic) lol - just made a post in there [Xiron], so hey, it's something to watch over for the next few days I suppose.

Anyhow, the install folder looks like so.

And the extracted archive (.mwd) folder is as follows:

There is a file for each zone/theme. My best guess is that the models are stored away in the .wad files, as that is a common extension for archives on PSX games, even if the game was carried over to PC. Their either in that or the .map files but no one on Xentax said they saw anything there, so.
And yes, the .vlo files ARE a bunch of graphics from the theme packed together in one file(s), but there is ways of viewing/extracting them. Wink
So presumably the models and such are packed/grouped away within a file(s) too.

Not saying I won't ask for help with this again, but, I might have found a method to deal with solatorobo for now
http://www.vg-resource.com/post-394279.html

I managed to grab all thee of those tools, and do have a 64x64 .png file to show for it (well, and a non-converted model)

I feel like an idiot for not looking for this in the first place, but the thing is, the last time I had checked for any information about ripping from it, I got nowhere. So, I posted my request foolishly thinking not much had changed since then. Sorry about that.
