How to rip sounds (not voices or instruments) in Super Mario Galaxy

However, I do have an idea.
AudioRes is where all sound-relevant files are stored, right?
If that's the case, then I can simply make a multi-part WinRAR file of that folder. Now that is something I can easily upload on SendSpace.

Okay then do that

Uhm...sorry for the double post, but it would be nice to know what I need to do next in order to get the Galaxy Spin sound.
Please don't leave me hanging. The fate of my game solely depends on whenever I can get the sound or not.
And no, I cannot get a different sound. I really need this sound and no other sound.

Really, you need to wait at least 24 hours before bumping or showing impatience. People have lives and are not on here all the time, or even every day. Regardless of how bad your game needs this sound, any help you're getting is still out of good will.

Right now I have to wait an hour to download the second file. I'm looking into the first one but I don't think it contains the sounds you're looking for.

OK, so apparently the sound effects are found in the .aw files in the Waves folder. The instructions to extracting them are in the second post on this page. I tested it out and it works, however the sounds are not named so you will have to look for the particular sound yourself. Still, it should be there somewhere.

Ugh...sorry, if I sound impatient. It's just that there's a reason I cannot reveal as to why I have to release the demo of the game in less than 5 days, and the closer I get to the dateline, the more unsecure I get and I get filled more and more with the fear that I might not be able to finish the demo in time, and I would have to wait a whole year again, and that really pains me a lot.

But thanks for pointing me to the right direction. I think I know what to do now, although I now also have to figure out how to write batch files.
Should not be too hard, though, so thank you very much. I'll credit you in the demo.
EDIT: Nevermind, it's also written how to write batch files. Okay, sound effects, here I go.

Okay, so I ripped the sounds, but how can I know that only only ripped the sound effects and not accidently voices and instruments as well? I mean, 1796 wav files does sound pretty suspicious to me.

Fifth post here describes which sounds are apparently (not guaranteed) in which files. At a guess I'd say your sound might be in b64kawa_0. Unfortunately I've never played SMG so I can't give any more help in terms of organising or finding sounds.

Okay, I have read the fifth post, and there's something odd. Appearantly, there are many subcategories in b64_kawa0, but I cannot seem to find them. These are file mono_0 to file mono_8. Would like to have an explanation as to how he could get those subcategories in the first place. And based on the post, none of those subcategories seem to have the Galaxy Spin sound effects. So what's going on here?

The tool used doesn't rename files. Not does splitting the samples into the mono channels it outputs. Remember the post said it may not wok for stereo at all. However I don't know it that is significant to this case at all.

Oh...
Well, I don't know if the Galaxy Spin sound effect is a stereo sound or a mono sound.
If it's a stereo sound, then using the tool was pretty much pointless in the end... :-/

Oh no, it's the 30th March already.

Somebody please tell me already if the Galaxy Spin sound effect is a stereo sound or a mono sound, and if it's a stereo, then somebody please tell me already how to rip those.

The closer and closer I get to the deadline, the more desperate I get, so please help me already.

It really sounds a lot like you think we're refusing to help you. It's very possible and probable that we just can't. I for one don't know as I've never played the game.

If you're this desperate your best bet is to assume the sound is mono and look for it in the sounds you ripped. I don't think anyone can help you much more beyond this.

Maybe Dolphin Emulator can extract it.
I'm also interested.

Normally it's compressed in .szs file. Then a sound format that you can search it for specifications.

It cannot extract the sound directly. It can extract sound banks, and you need to extract sounds from those banks with different tools.
I could extract the mono sounds, but no luck with the stereo sounds.
Actually, I fear that the Galaxy Spin sound effect might actually be a combination of multiple sounds.
If that's the case, then ripping the Galaxy Spin sound effect will be literally impossible... Sad

Try recording it on dolphin. Maybe with this http://www.any-sound-recorder.com/audio-...pture.html .
If there are other sounds playing, remove it by the iso the files that refer to other sound.
Or maybe VGM Ripper.

Uhm...I don't think that's how muting sounds works, though. Missing files could more likely lead to crashes than muting, even if it's sound files.
No, I would need a code that manually mutes all music, all voices and all ambient sounds, since codes only disable things and doesn't remove them out of existance completely.
