How Do Projects Work?
#1
Question
Okay, so I’m interested in gathering sound effects from various Star Wars video games for video projects, usually ones that are not found elsewhere on the internet. iteachvader has helped me a great deal, and I’m sorry to hear that he will not be doing any further ripping projects for others, so I want to acquire additional sounds from other sources. I started this thread in hopes that somebody would help with getting the lightsaber sounds from Kinect Star Wars, Lightsaber Sound Effects Request (Kinect Star Wars), but with no success. And I do understand the rules of requests, I just need help with this.

I’ve acquired information on how to rip the sounds and other files, but I don’t have the files myself to work with, so I wonder if starting up a project would help somewhat. I would like to know how they work, and how to get people together to help me crack this puzzle. Any help would be appreciated.

From what I understand, you would go to one of the resource sub-forums, in this case, the sounds resource, and create a thread in "project organization".
You, obviously, should be an actual part of the ripping, though.
Besides that, you would hope to have someone offer to help with it.

I think that's all there is to it, someone may correct me if I'm wrong.
Basically, it works as you'd expect any kind of group project would, you announce "hey, i'm doing this project, anyone want to help?" , and hopefully someone comes and says "why, yes, i'd love to help!"

Oh, no, I agree with you on that part. I have the knowledge and the tools (partially), its the files I don’t have that is the problem. Indeed, I think that I will start up the project, explain the situation in full detail there, then wait for somebody to help. Thank you for your valuable input all the same.
