You can't get into it without having beaten Four Swords, and you also need to beat Ganon on LTTP once.  To access the Hurricane Spin sidequest, you need to get 10 Rupee medals from Four Swords.

Being made/optimised to work on another system doesn't warrant full price. I'm not saying they aren't good games, but they weren't completely remade. Zero Mission was built from the ground up. The Mario Advance games may have to have been completely redone to work on the GBA but all (well most) of the graphics were available, the level design, the music etc etc..

Super Mario Advance was the same price as Zero Mission. And Zero Mission was a game with a lot more work going into it.

It just wasn't good value for money.

I do agree that complete remasters of the same game are more worth it, like Pokemon FireRed and HeartGold, and Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls, instead of mostly just direct ports, but as long as they add enough new stuff over, it can be justified. Like Final Fantasy 1 2 and 4 PSP. They look a lot more beautiful, and there's more bonus content to play around with.

Zero Mission is more or less a perfect example of an update type scenario for an old game, I think. Certainly worth looking at for any dev. team working on a remake of something. Not that every remake should be given the Zero Mission treatment, some old games are already fine mechanically and don't need huge overhauls of the levels and physics and so on. Like Super Metroid. If Nintendo ever decide to remake it I would hope the map would be as close as possible to the original, but a few totally new areas and items would be great.

Ports and updated ports are harder to justify in comparison. I think they're even giving Skyrim Remastered to steam players for free if they already have Skyrim+All DLCs purchased for this reason.

Steam seems pretty nice about giving free upgraded versions to people. Pretty sure Oddworld Stranger's Wrath had the same kinda deal. It's a shame really that PSN or Xbox Live etc can't do a similar thing (obviously it would have to look when the game was brought so you couldn't just borrow the disc etc). I know with Injustice: God's Amongst Us you got some money off or something if you owned the PS3 version.

I'd love to see Super Metroid redone. Hell, any new 2D Metroid would be nice but it would be nice to see what Nintendo can do with some 'gritty' 2D graphics. I mean Kirby's Epic Yarn and Wario Land Shake-Dimension look gorgeous, but I'd love to see some darker work by Good-Feel. Or even polygons - hell, worked for Shadow of the Beast.

Another remake I really enjoyed (but seems to split the fan base) is Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. Like, I get the criticism of 'Shakespear-ing' it up but honestly, the PS1 game has aged to such a point that unless you've already played it, it's pretty much impossible to play. I mean Twin Snakes took some time to get used to.

While I'm on about Metal Gear Solid, MGS3: Subsistence is pretty much the most required 'remaster' probably ever made. Like, it's such the definitive version that you forget the original had a fixed camera (which was an utter ball ache). It also brought Metal Gear 2 outside of Japan for the first time ever, and I really really enjoyed that game.

How do you guys feel about remakes that go from 2D to 3D?

Now, I'm a sprite enthusiast, so I'd rather them do higher resolution 2D remakes myself, but as long as the 3D is handled well, I don't mind.  Where this wasn't the case:  Final Fantasy 3 and 4 DS (and their ports), Golden Axe PS2 Remake in the Sega Collections. Where this was the case: Dragon Quest Monsters 1 and 2 3DS remakes.

I'd rather have well done, polished looking 2D like Final Fantasy PSP remakes, instead of half-assed or bland looking 3D remakes like the DS remakes.

I think now, remakes that use polygons have got a lot better. I mean the PSP Megaman remakes were good games, but even X looks a bit ugly. As for Powered Up! - the giant bobble head look wasn't really my jam. I think that's the same problem with FF. It wasn't that it particularly looked bad, it was a rather large style change, and if you didn't like it than that was that.

But well, games like Oddworld and Shadow of the Beast look really really nice.

Other games are just 'OK' - such as Ghouls and Ghost on the PSP (or was it Ghost and Goblins - and does it even count as a remake?). The point is, that game looked fine. Would it have been better with sprites? Maybe, but it didn't take anything away from the game using polygons.

Although not a remake, the new King of the Fighters is 3D. I'm guessing it's simply easier to do with a game of that size.

A series that has became very ugly since going 3D is Fire Emblem. Those games just look awful and with the size of the screen etc sprites would work a lot better.

I think it's fair to say that most remakes now look fine when making the jump to 3D.

The PacMan remake on PSP was gorgeous. It went to 2.5D, added worlds and bosses, and has an actual end instead of looping forever, lol.

I'm not aware of the other version, but at least compared to the original PacMan, it looks a lot better and has way more variety, which is always a plus. The other remakes on this collection are the same deal.

Lots of variety added, instead of just looping the same level over and over for eternity, with more mechanics to play around with, built on top of the old ones.

OG Pac-Man Arrangement here.

Basically Kinky was a special ghost that, if they met any of the other ghosts, transformed them into a more powerful version, each one with a unique power. (Pinky could super-jump to just about any spot on the map, I think, and Blinky could dash extra fast. I can't remember what Inky and Clyde did.)

But you also got more points for eating them.

Also here's OG Galaga Arrangement which also honestly looks better. The Galaga you showed seems really really slow by comparison.

They look like entirely different games, lol. And I mean that in a good way; it doesn't seem like the PSP Arrangements are remaking those arrangements, but are yet additional takes on enhancing the original. I'd say both are worth experiencing (I'd have to find a way to emulate those other arrangements, lol)

Inky splits into a duplicate, so there's effectively five deadly ghosts. Clyde either eats pellets or spits out new ones (I forget which exactly).

Pac-Man Arrangement is one of my favorite games TBH
