New user here, looking for feedback
#1
Hello! My name is Reversinator, known in some places as GreenDisaster and Time Turner, and I wouldn't mind getting some feedback on a sprite sheet. I've ripped a few collections of icons from lesser-known titles such as the souvenirs and microgames from WarioWare: Twisted! and the characters and Gaddgets from Mario Party Advance, but I didn't think about uploading them here until Daxar's Sprite Sheeter made it really convenient. I've used plenty of sprites from this place for the Super Mario Wiki (and I will be eternally grateful to everyone here), but this is the first time I'm uploading anything here, so I wanted to know if I was doing anything seriously wrong. So far, I've only done a sheet for Twisted's microgame icons; I don't want to spend time on all of them before finding out I wasn't doing something right. I'm probably being more cautious than I should be, but better safe than sorry and whatnot. I'm mostly concerned with the stuff I did with GIMP afterwards, like the heads next to each character's name and the credit tag at the bottom.

Looks pretty good. Have you submitted it?
I like to make models in my free time. I also make weird games, too.

Hello and welcome to the Resource! It's really neat to see people who have used resources here rip stuff themselves Smile

First off I'll just say that it's generally better if you make a showreel thread in The Spriters Resource -> Showreel/Feedback section, since that's the specific area for it so you'll likely get more feedback there. Not a huge issue though.

In this case it looks mostly good, there is a bit of a problem though. The sprites are quite close together, and in some cases (particularly the heads) their bounding boxes overlap. That is to say, the sprites themselves don't overlap but their rectangles do. Here's what I mean:

Both for usability and general spacing, it's better if it's possible to extract an individual sprite just using the rectangle tool. Leaving a margin of 2 pixels or so is nice too. Other than that it's great though, good job!

Enjoy your time here!

Thank you for the tips! I've been busy with schoolwork, but I've finally polished it up and submitted it! I really wanted to have the characters' icons next to their respective set of microgames, but I couldn't find a way to structure it without either retooling everything else or providing an inadequate amount of space, so I settled for putting them at the top. I'm getting started on the Souvenirs now, and hopefully it won't be nearly as complicated.
