Looks like I'll be sticking some soft fabric on the dock. Had to do it with my 3DS, too. What's up with your own stuff breaking itself, Nintendo?

good thing i bought a screen protector, lol - although I did put it on like a total moron (bubbles, dust and everything) and I'm looking to remedy the issue with a tempered glass one
Launching a "Pro Dock" almost seems inevitable at this point - but I gotta say, "oh no i scuffed up the edge of the screen" is a much better tech concern than "My Switch is emitting a high-pitched sound oh no why is the screen blue and not doing anything"

are there other launch games besides Zelda?

There's also Super Bomberman R, unless you're not interest in that.
EDIT: http://www.wired.co.uk/article/nintendo-...shop-games
mario kart 8 deluxe is coming out in april. as if that game needed more add-on content. lol also i believe someone told me that there are downloadable titles available?

Super Bomberman R is just... it's just too pricey. Like the single player just isn't really there and for just multiplayer, yeah it'a great - but it's a hard sell for the entry price.
If the standard crap stand is $90 (again, why?) I dread to think of what any 'deluxe' one might be...

(WarioWare minigame compilation that really doesn't require a screen) - Just Dance 2017 (dance game but for 2017, decent use of joycon i guess) - Super Bomberman R (classic Bomberman action for 10 dollars less than a full retail game; has about as much content as a $15 XBox Live title) Digital eShop games - Shovel Knight (same game you've seen about 8 times before, but now MORE DLC) - I Am Setsuna (Chrono Trigger-esque JRPG, kinda expensive, all good) - Fast RMX (F-Zero like game. Good use of the Switch under load I guess) - Snipperclips (darling digital title of the Switch, perfect casual puzzle-solving fun for couples) and that's just the US eShop. Creating a foreign eShop account unlocks access to even more stuff, like VOEZ (touchscreen-only rhythm game) and a collection of Neo-Geo Virtual-Console-but-not titles like Waku Waku 7 and Metal Slug
Not any worth mentioning then...

Well... I'm really not that hyped for the Switch... at the beginning, when the Switch was revealed for the first time, I had a bad feeling about it...
For me, it more looks like a console, where Nintendo just wanted to focus on gimmicks again, rather than on a solid console. The whole "docking" and "portable" staff was never something crazy for me to go about . They had to launch it quickly... they had to rush Zelda for it... they had to be more gimmicky for the sake of innovation . Don't know if this was shown here yet, but yeah... I kinda expected fun like that from "rushing" the games and system. The docking station and controller issues are my biggest problems with this console... I better stay currently with my WiiU and wait for the next or a better version of this console. As for online, I already heard, that Bomberman R has issues with frame and input lags... I don't think, that the server/online stuff will be all that different from the WiiU in the future... Can it also be, that I'm the only one, who thinks that Zelda Botw is kinda... overhyped? I don't know... but most reviews say it's 98% or 10/10... from what I have heard and saw, it isn't really that great, most people give it credit to. It reminds me a little bit of "nostalgic" game reviews (hello "A Link to the Past" ), where games, no matter the issues, flaws and cons of it, got (almost) perfect scores, just because people had "nostalgic" feelings about them. I feel, that Zbotw reviews also blending out most of the facts and is being rated that good, just because It's supposed to be Zelda 1 like and therefore "nostalgic". I don't say it's trash, but I also don't think it's worth 98%. Zelda games really often have this "overrated" issue, but I fell, that this Time, it is really all-over-the-top.
If the world taught me, is that since OoT the general public never likes a new Zelda game and waits for a new entry in the series to like it so your reaction is actually expected
Additionally, if a game is getting lots of favourable reviews, chances are, it's actually good Of course it might not be everyone's cup of tea but I'm pretty sure it's not mediocre. Thanked by: Kosheh

Before people think that I'm a OoT "fanboy"... no, I'm not. Actually, I didn't like OoT that much (very strange and rare opinion, I know ). In my eyes, there is no perfect Zelda game (not TP, not WW, not the GBs or the NESs, none is perfect). I think, there is no perfect game at all (there is at least in every game something, that will cause probelms and issues).
A score like 98% is weird to me... It's weird, that the games where rated really extremely good, despite having some major issues (Twilight Princess comes to mind at this). I kinda think it's a bit unrealistic, that the Zelda games move only in the > 85% rating range (excluding the CD-I games and spinoffs, obviously). To give a example, this is the rating from gamefags (and a lot of other sites actually move around similar rating ranges): The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 99% The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 98% The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker 96% The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii) 95% The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 94% The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds 91% The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass 90% The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D 89% The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks 87% ... Some games here and there in between... I mean, Zelda is a good franchise and the games where not bad (medicore would be too harsh), but nearly 100%? It makes me wounder, how these scores are being determined sometimes. When is a game rated exactly 100%? I don't know... Botw is properly a good game (glitches aside), but it's hard to say, that it would be a "nearly perfect game" (like most of the other Zeldas). I will wait a bit, until the Switch hype calmed down (properly a Switch 2.0, or something like that, will being released at that time) and then I will give the Switch+Zelda another look.

I'm getting Breath of the Wild for the Wii U. Not because of great scores, because an FPS can get a perfect 10 and I'm not a fan of that genre. The exploration and discovering secrets in one giant, interconnected world appeals to me. It looks like it'll scratch that Metroid itch for me a bit.
The Switch can wait though. I'm still going to get it, but not right away. I don't mind the gimmicks and shit as long as the core games released on the system don't suffer due to forced gimmicks like Starfox Zero did. I know that the hardcore Nintendo fans prefer a Gamecube 2.0, but while the Gamecube was an amazing console, sales numbers didn't exactly agree. If it takes all these bells and whistles for Nintendo to keep releasing the next Smash Bros, Mario Kart, etc., then I'll gladly accept that (unless again, said bells and whistles are forced into these games). |
