Sonic Unleashed
Anyone else sick of hearing ''This game will take Sonic back to his roots and restore his former glory'' ?
this is a sig

Couldn't have said it better myself Unknown.
Mario went into 3D incredibly well and even though I still wish they'd make some good 2D ones since SMW2: YI, I don't get hate Nintendo when they announce a 3D one because there generally OK games. But Sonic has not bee in a single glitch free 3D game get. Nor one that has actually been worth playing.

Yeah I mentioned that earlier. If they just said "Were adding shit ideas to Sonic" I wouldn't be so annoyed with them.

It's like how every FPS claims to reinvent to genre. And as far as I know only Half-Life and Golden Eye did that.

Fixed. Just Personal opinion of course, but yeah, I know what you mean. They try to bring in new fanbase for Sonic, by putting in poorly executed parts for them, alienating their normal fanbase, and alienating the new fanbase cos its so badly done. Thats why they just need to focus on the game similar to Old School games, to create something that doesn't feel rushed out. That feels complete, fun to play, and fast. Cos that's what made Sonic Sonic, right?

I don't know, Sonic 3D Blast wasn't that bad nor was Sonic Adventure it's real jump.

I like Sonic Adventure, I still do, I won't deny Sonic Adventure 2 had more glitches then 1 but both were essentially good 3D games, are you sure the dislike isn't based with Sonic not being the Prime character?

Would it be better to ask how should a 3D Sonic game be made? Obviously the essential formula that's being asked is the 2D style game play. Then what? We let Sonic run beat Eggman somewhere on something called ____egg and and get the next game going? I'm not being sarcastic I'm actually asking is this what we want?

i loved sonic 3D blast and if you didn't like it i hate you

A story helps to connect the levels and gives character motives. The old Sonic games had stories, though they were barely represented in-game.

Many games have glitches. mario games are only free of glitches, because they let him wander a closed world at slow speeds with less environment interaction. When Sega tries to do something different, it is much harder to implement.

Sonic 3D Blast was fun, but the final boss was one of the hardest I have ever faced.

If they remade Sonic 1-3&K in one game, I'm fairly sure there would be a whole new croip of complaints. People like complaning, it is a fact. Sure, Mario's remake as successful, but Megamans and Megaman X's remakes both failed in sales.

I liked the Zero series except the first one but ZX was way too easy.
Powered Up and Maverick Hunter on the PSP were awesome - wrong platform I guess to get big sale numbers.

I didn't like Sonic 3D too much, it was alright but nothing special.
Adventure 1 and 2 had some interesting ideas but instead of the sequel building upon what had been achieved in the first game they just changed it for no reason. Sure Big and his terrible levels were gone but there were so few Sonic and Shadow levels (which were pretty good) compared to the bad Tails/Eggman levels and the rest of it to make it enjoyable. Awesome soundtrack though.

I liked the Tails/Eggman levels more than I liked the Knuckles/Rouge levels. Searching for the emeralds is so tedious and boring, it's unreal.

Tails didn't need to be put in a machine, though

I liked the Tails/ Eggman levels too. People probably didn't like them because Tails was riding a machine rather using his old abilities. But I certainly prefer Tails in a mech than Tails having to race Sonic.

As for stories, I blame 4kids for ruining the dialogue in the game. The stories were never that bad it was just hearing the corny and pathetic things the characters would say at a crucial/ epic moment.

Here's how you solve the glitch problem... Stop making Sonic so damn fast! I remember there was a time Sonic would have to stop and do a spin dash to get up steep slopes, or stop and push a block into lava so he could cross. Now he so fast he just blasts through things with barely any effort needed. Slow him down, I'd like to see the return of rolling too.

Yeah he is too fast, normally you find yourself surprised when you actually have to press a button to do something but run.

Slow sonic is boring, IMO. Rush did Sonic best in that he was always in motion. When you were stopped, you had the tension gauge to get him moving again. Rails and springs were livened up with tricks. Completing a flawless run with a stylish bout of tricks and enemy destruction was extremely satisfying.

Tails always seemed to be Sonic: Easy Mode. Not as fast, so twitch gameplay had less to do with things. If you weren't skilled enough to make the jump with momentum, you could fly instead. This made him really dull. The mech-based gameplay in SA2 gave him his own role; one he sorely deserved.

Amy (one introduced as playable to the series) became Sonic: Hard Mode. Nowhere nar as fast, and had little jumping capability. However, he hammer-based techniques gave har variety, and made playing as her almost a puzzle game, finding a route that she could safely use. Mirrored in SA1; it's a shame some of the cool gimmicks she got in her stages never arised again when she was involved.

Knuckles is the only character of the main 4 that wasn't a sonic variant. The ability to punch, glide, and climb set his gameplay in a totally different direction from Sonic, and I liked that. Fast is cool, technical is cool. The variety made the Advance and Adventure games good. I loved the treasure hunting stages, because I knew it wasn't trying to be fast-paced.

On that note, I would LOVE a Knuckles/Rouge (and maybe Tikal/Chaos 0) MetroidVania, exploring and gaining new physical abilities to hunt for treasure.

then why are people ripping on werehog? he's virtually knuckles in a different body.
Thanked by:
Well in my opinion, Rush was too fast and you could blast through things, making enemies too easy. That's another thing, killing enemies has become too easy.

I did love Sonic Rush but it was still kinda easy with that boost system.

Thanked by:
He's just Knuckles....with stretch-armstrong-arms. =D And a dark blue hue, clawed fingers an yadday yadda yadda.

I'll probably rent it sometime, beat it in a weekend and return it, like I've done with the other sonic games.

Thanked by:
Then why not just make it Knuckles? Instead of shitting on Sonic and slapping fur on him?
I think everyone knows this game will be bad.

Says it all really...
