You're sort of getting things in the wrong order.
The last straw came in a mod forum discussion about supersuit; the staff were deciding on whether to ban him. As you can read for yourself here, Zee had some less-than-moral ideas on how to do it. Unfortunately for him, Aud was able to view the mod forum thanks to his member group, and a topic was made where several members called Zee out and basically ran him out of his job. He decided, though, that he'd go out in a blaze, so he banned a ton of people--enter the alt accounts, begin the raid.
Actually the truth of Zee's resignation is that he felt sick and tired of helping the site and getting nothing but piss poor attitudes from most of the members for it. He has been thinking about doing it for a while. Anyway thats what he basically told me.

Why do I have a feeling the problems have yet to stop. Maybe I'm just pessimistic. But I sense a change in staff is not going to stop the oncoming troubles the tSR will face.

Well, nothing can stop tSR from having troubles.
What we can do, though, is find the best way to deal with the troubles we have and prepare for the ones to come, and I think that this is definitely a good way to start.
Besides, with Zee go half of the complaints about the mod team.
We don't need another Boomansion, where Mods have a diffrent Member treatment.
Congrats at staff position, Nin and Dex. Good luck trying to break up the flame wars that may spur here in the New Year.
