Are these just edited with Photoshop, or do you also make the graphics themselves as well?

The actual pics are all right, I guess. And is the Santa one supposed to have erase marks? I see the default transparency background. Tongue

I don't draw any characters, I just make the tags with the characters.
And yes, the erase marks are supposed to be like that. I personally like them.

Well, yeah. They're hardly amazing.
You pretty much just took a sprite and a background you liked and stuck them together, maybe cut out or faded the sprite a bit, added some glow and a brush or two, and stuck on some text.

Even if they weren't simple as shit to make, none of it is really yours. Unless you pixel'd the sprites, designed the brushes and created the text. It's sort of like taking a bunch of articles about a subject and sticking them together and then calling it your essay, y’know? I mean sure, it’s less extreme than that (after all, you had to put it all together), but still.

Anyway. Besides that, you have to work on your typography. Your text placement looks bad, and your font choices are terrible. Also, try making your color schemes more interesting. Besides the Santa one, they’re all basically different shades of the same color.

Thanks for your comment, but it's more then taking a sprite and a backgorund and put them together. I used lot's of C4Ds, smudging, adjustment layers, pentooling and a lot more.

And I know "none of it is mine," but that's basically with all sigs. You see it like all I did was copy paste, but I actually edited what I copied and made it into one piece.

But I have to agree. Text and colours is what I'm bad at. My sigs are overall very monotome. But I like to keep my text simple to not let it distract too much from the focal. Thanks for the tips though.

Okay.

That's not true for all signatures; for great deal of them, maybe, but some people actually put in thier own stuff. Besides, saying that 'most people do it' is hardly a strong argument.

And no, I understand you didn't just copypasta (because you see, I'm not a complete idiot C:). I'm just saying they're easy to make. I mean, shit, maybe not for you, then, but back in the day I used to make images like that too, so I know something about creating them.

If you don't want the text to distract ppl, then don't add it. imho, if you're not gonna make the text look cool, then the image is gonna look much cooler without it. If you're making a signature for someone and they ask you to put their name or whatever in it, the okay. Clearly you have to put it somewhere then; iono but I think I'd just stick in one of the corners.
But yeah, try experimenting with fonts and type placement and stuff.

Mmmmhhnn. btw
I suppose you're going for quite a grungy style, right? If you are, it is often quite hard to have a noticeable color scheme (unless it's candy grunge).
So.

Try making something in a cleaner style, like a vector, maybe? For practice.
iono

I can send a Color Scheme website your way, if you'd like.
