That's pretty good, but it still lacks the 3D feel. I assume you weren't going for that though, since sprites are mostly 2D.

If I were you I'd use FF6's enemy sprites as a shading example.

Well.. I managed to Re shade your sprite... see if it fit your taste, if idoes, dissert it and study my pixel classes in http://josephseraph.wordpress.com
if it doesn´t, strudy the classes anyway,

Joseph, there's a lot of contrast there and not nearly enough blending to make up for it. Why use such hard lighting? Also, why use the same color for most of the highlights? The gun, for instance: If it's going to shine, it should shine white, like the small silver part of the soldier's helmet, not yellow.

I dunno if this is a valid point, but 4-6 FF sprites use only 16 colours, so i couldn´t go crazu and add a different light for every part of the sprite, and if we want to loyally follow the FF style, we should adhere to the 16 colours rule, BTW, it would allow too for hackers to use in their uber-cool ffiv snes hacking that changed the monsters to ffvii ones, et cetera....
i dunno if i it is a good idea to keep 16 colours though.

Nuff said.

Why bump such an old and terrible thread?
Also NinX, if a project thread is started with no structured progress, and/or no work produced by the OP, feel free to lock it if you don't see that fact changing any time soon. |
