Hi! Maybe two years too late to get an answer, but how did you manage to get the animations?
 
I have managed to rip the files from dolphin, getting the .arc files, dumping them with yaz0dec and rarcdump, and viewing models, textures and animations in both J3-model-viewer and  BMDview2. With BMDview2 and can get the ds3 file (and fbx through blender 2.79), but I have not figured out how to get the animations. I can see all the bones, but dont know how to extract them.
