I absolutely love it. It's easier to navigate now.

I'm fine with the new appearance of the site. But I absolutely HATE the new thing with the buttons! Whoever did that, what on Earth where you thinking!? It's horrible! I'm talking about how the buttons that take you to sprites from different companies have been changed into ones for different consoles!
(IE: Nintendo, Sega, Other, Etc. have been changed to Gameboy, Genesis, Arcade, Etc.) It's impossible to find anything anymore! It has to be changed back! The site is useless if you can't find what you're looking for! Whoever did this went through a lot of work and went to a lot of trouble to make things worse. Please, bring back the old buttons that organize sprites by company and not console! PLEASE!!!

Oh, you think they're gonna change it just like that? After MONTHS of hard work trying to change the site into a better thing? Just so you know, there is the search feature so you can have it sorted by series, like if you search for Sonic, everything with Sonic will appear. You may think it's a nightmare, but it's easier to navigate and you can still have the old sorting way with the search feature. So just stop complaining and accept the new site. And, you guys register in the forums just to say how the site looks "horrible"? Because almost all of you complainers have only 1-3 post, being all of them complaints about the site.

Personally, I just find it far too cluttered, some things just look awkwardly placed. I think you would do better having a bar just under the header with search on the right hand side of it and have the Games/sheets as a drop down, and on the left have the icons/text display as another drop down on the left.
Also, there's something that bugs me with the different categories on the left, its probably because I feel that sort of look is more suitable to menu headers, perhaps if you were to categorise the different sections in the menu and use that particular look for that? Like you could have say handhelds, consoles etc. and they would appear as normal links within those sections. Also when a section has no resources on it, it would be nice if the alphabetical index could still be displayed. The functionality is good though, I'm sure if you tweak the design long enough you'll find something that everyone can feel comfortable with.

For people bugging about how they liked sorting out by company better, well what if I told you that many big games weren't developed by these companies. Would the normal person know that Aspect made a bunch of Sonic games or Pax Softonica did Mother/Earthbound Zero? Plus the fact that companies merge, change name, close down and unnamed shadow developers means that it would be harder to truely categorise by company. I can understand why some like the company better as it was around for years and many are Nintendo/other company fans but it is more easier and practical to handle by system (and also slowly moving away from the Ninsprites mindset as in obscure games wouldn't get a look). It can take time to adjust to something not familar and if you go to any other sprite website (SDB, RetroGameZone, tSGK), they are sorted by system too.
Besides there is a search button to make things easier and quicker so if you are looking for a certain character you don't have to click a bunch of sections to get it like in the past.

I think the search button shoudl have it's own image instead of the standard button layout, so it would fit the style of the site better.

I'm fine with the new appearance of the site. It's just those new buttons that are a nightmare! It does NOT make it easier to navigate. Just the opposite! It's impossible to find anything, now. Plus, it's more complicated with the "More buttons" thing. Having the sprite sheets categorized by company/game made it very easy to find what you're looking for. But, now, with it being "sorted" by console, well... WE PROBABLY WON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT CONSOLE IT'S ON IN THE FIRST PLACE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! I don't see why so much effort was put into half-ruining the entire site.
(Sorry about my first comments here being complaints. I was gonna wait 'till I had some more sprite sheets to post but when I saw what happened to the site, I had to start early.)

Does any body read this topic???? If you can't find what you're looking for use the search box just like you would on google.

I'm about to start mocking the people who complains about the new method or the lack of custom sprites... Really, it's getting annoying as hell.

If it gets really bad, maybe make it so you can choose between different button styles or have it so all games affiliated with Nintendo could have "nintendo" as one of their keywords so you could search "nintendo" and find all nintendo games.

Yea......This topic was a big mistake...
I agree with this guy, the old one was better in many ways. Yeah this one loads faster and has a search thing, but why can't we just add that to the old look? I liked just clicking "Nintendo - Mario - RPG - M&L: SS" or something similar to that.
Even though saying this won't change much, this is what I'd like: Back to the old version, whatever you did to make it load faster, add a search engine, big party at Dazz's place. EDIT: And for custom sprites, they can go in their own section, as if they were a franchise. EX: [Nintendo] [Sega] [Yadayadayada] [Custom Sprites]

Or some sort of choice. I mean like....have both so one can select the one they prefer.

You guys don't really understand how making a website works, I take it?
Like, the work that we have to actually put into uploading a single sprite if we were to choose to have multiple options, or keywords for all 15482 sheets that are currently online? |
