Problems with the Debug mode of Cyber Knight II (SNES)
#1
So I tried to use the Debug mode of Cyber Knight II to make it easy for me to rip the enemy and player sprites from the game, and followed the instructions I found on The Cutting Room Floor, and I tried the action replay code and the button combination both ways are not working for me.

I'm not sure if I'm making something wrong (pushing the buttons in the wrong timing), if it is a problem with the Emulator I use. (Zsnes) Or if the instructions are incorrect.

Here is a link to the page from The Cutting Room Floor: https://tcrf.net/Cyber_Knight_II

Maybe someone can point me in the right direction here, thx in advance.

You haven't done anything wrong as the instructions on TCRF are rather incomplete.

Basically you have to start the game, do the name entry and after watching the opening, you get onto the ship. So that'll take you a few minutes to get there if you don't fast forward. There are two options that come up. According to here, you press Y however if that doesn't work, press B so it displays that background then press Y. After getting to that part, you should make a save state so you wouldn't have to do that over and over again.

As a note, I used the Action Replay code and used bsnes-plus. Using ZSNES in this day and age isn't really recommended when there are more accurate and better options out there. Plus using bsnes-plus (or BizHawk), you'll be able to rip the backgrounds, character portraits and other sprites too.

Update: After going through the debug mode, there is some bad news. It only loads the first sprite of an animation as the battle sprites are animated. TCRF doesn't mention this. Ripping through the ROM is no use as it is compressed.

Yea that only the first sprite of the characters and enemies can be loaded over the Debug menu is kind of a bummer, but thx for your help anyway.  Thumbs Up
