Looking for Touhou Lost Word missing files

Actually, considering something that happened recently, I might try to do a second comb-through of the files, if college isn't kicking my butt- I can PM you the file you're looking for if need be, though I'd have to remember the specifics of how to get it beforehand. Something I noticed while doing my runthrough is that everything was randomly scattered, but I could've found every asset for the game if something hadn't gotten botched along the way, so hopefully someone else in the thread can do this for you as for some reason, when I did it, a lot of stuff got obfuscated, so I don't think I'd be very reliable.


As a bit of an aside for anyone who bumps into this, I think we should try playing through the game some in order to make sure we get everything. I think that's why a bunch of the stuff I had didn't load, though I understand if it may be an issue to spend a few days trying to get lucky with character pulls or getting a high enough level to advance through the story.

I'll check that out, sadly chances are your cache won't help unfortunately as I need someone with a good amount of playtime. Sure I have a good amount from playing since launch, but I skipped a few banners during a vacation as well as some side stories and feasibly can't do all the fantasy rebirth costumes myself as the game won't even give me the resources to do it. I'm uploading a massive amount of sprites from mine that should complete the vast majority of base game characters, and I have a large amount of story cards too. But making them into sprite sheets is just as time consuming as ripping. Oh also, there is at least one file in the cache that is completely bad and will crash AssetStudioGUI without fail.

Also, I can confirm assets are downloaded on demand as all character costumes are downloaded if you view them in the friends tab in the main menu (this is what the "Connecting..." is doing when the game freezes while viewing them). It seems the game also downloads fantasy rebirth costumes when they are needed as they aren't displayed on the friends menu until they are unlocked through the annoyingly long process. The odd thing is that characters that were in banners that I haven't even obtained seem to be in my cache, and I don't know why the game downloaded them. It might download characters that are in the story line as well as one's you have.

Regardless thanks for responding, and hopefully we get this game completely ripped some day. I intend to make a separate thread somewhere devoted to a ripping tutorial to make it easier for people to figure out how to do it, as this thread is more so devoted to helping someone than a tutorial with how to do it and keeping track of what isn't ripped. It was a bit confusing at first but with the help here I will definitely post the rips of quite a bit of this game.

That's fair. I do intend to start playing the game again on Bluestacks or what have you due to recent developments (got a bit of free time) though preferably it'll be the JP version if I can get that running. Been told I can do this via Bluestacks HyperV, qooapp, and even disabling Hyper-V related windows features and installing Bluestacks 5, but I'll have to test all of them when I'm not busy with classwork. May start Friday, assuming I'm free, though then I'll also be deleting my old work on ripping game assets (as in the previous uploads where I got the Deathwatch set of costumes uploaded. I saved them on my PC for some reason.)

Will try to get through the story and primarily get Chapter 4 stuff ripped, as there's some new content there that I can upload. I think I can also upload the F1(?) Sanae Assets as I've had them since the first rip of the game that I did, considering she's an enemy you can fight now

Regardless, I'll do my best to actually help out here. Hopefully your search goes well, too!

That'll be great, I've been doing my best to rip but I will probably stop at the end of the current assets I have. I have around 125(?) story cards in full of the 399 (at LEAST, according to the container IDs), and multiple backgrounds that I intend to post, plus seven characters. Unless I obtain a few more fantasy rebirth costumes, or pull a new rare character (like ANY of the Touhou 1-12 characters, though A1 Reimu and Marisa aren't in the global release yet) I'll be taking a break. An odd note is that the global release is quickly approaching the same point in terms of characters. My next release will for portraits will contain Eika. Narumi, and Urumi who are shockingly in the cache for global already (and I mean down to having nameplates  in English and un-named costumes). I also found parts of costumes, and I don't know why my cache contains characters some and doesn't have others (Flandre A6 is an example of an oddity where I never got her, yet she's in my cache and Remilia isn't. I have her on an alt though, but need a break before I mine for a single character). Also poor Miyoi is the only character in the whole main storyline I don't seem to be able to find a portrait of.

It's also worth noting if you intend to copy the cache again, go into the journal and run all story events you have before opening the cache again, this the game won't redownload the cache files if you've lost them somehow unless it needs to display them. I was able to test this due to someone wanting some Hifuu characters (I think as of my next rip I'll have every Hifuu character uploaded to here except that weird yellow haired Reisen) that weren't in my initial cache. Upon rerunning the story events I have a complete cache of almost character, it even got me Mystia who was missing from my cache before.

I'd love to hear what happens with getting the Japanese version running regardless, as I'd love to look into getting stuff from that in case global lasts shorter than Japan. Goodsmile is really causing feature and power creep that is causing the game to be downright unplayable even for me. With Lost Word being my soft introduction to Touhou (I'd had exposure before) I'd like to get as much of it archived as possible.

Alright, to put it simple I've become completely burned out today. Been doing this way too much when I should be doing it in moderation. I'm gonna need a break from doing this stuff, but I do intend to stick around here and help as needed, I just can't rip this thing in en-mass like I've been doing anymore. I do have a few more things, as I have an exact list of characters I know to be missing from my rip (including ones uploaded this morning).

I know that that the following were not in my rip:
Satori (L80)
Reisen (B5)
Ran (A7)
Momoyo
Rin (S5)
Suwako (A10)
Alice (A7)
Yukari (A7)
Aya (A9)
Satori (A11)

As someone who went through here before, I'm not sure if you're allowed to upload units who haven't been added yet (as I said I have F1 Sanae on my old cache,) but I believe it's okay if you just upload their splash art/cutscene art if you have any, as well as anything that could be found in-game, so keep that in mind when uploading your findings. Tomorrow's the day I have off, so I may begin my playthrough of the Japanese version tomorrow, given the time as I said. 

Considering uploading F1 Sanae tonight given the mods are fine with me uploading all of my findings.

JP Version is running well at the moment. I'll be attempting to complete the campaign and maybe some SDT and relic stages in order to get the remaining L80 sprites and C3 Rinnosuke if at all possible- mostly aiming to get cutscene stuff as of now.

I'm going to at least try to get to Chapter 4, but if I manage to get anything that could help me reach something later in the story I'll upload anything I can find as well.

Interesting, I have characters that are likely capable of doing SDT but never actually thought to do it as I got annoyed with the game due to the high difficulty of chapter 4. If the game wasn't down for maintenance now I'd check and see if I could get into it. If I get anything interesting I'll gladly do further ripping efforts. I'll check in when maintenance is done in a few hours. I'll be getting EoSD Remilia uploaded hopefully tomorrow, but I'm taking at least a 24 hour break before I do anything else pertaining to ripping itself. I'm wondering how long till A1 Reimu and Marisa are added as multiple assets for them are floating around in the cache but not enough to upload here. It's odd as I remember someone mentioning them being added to Japan like a year ago.

Also yeah, I lack a exchange ema on my main account and they only gave me one. If I had an exchange ema left (I used mine in getting Kyouko) I'd get Mystia to fill in her missing costumes as I didn't have any of them since I couldn't force them to download.

I'm going to at least try to get to Chapter 4, but if I manage to get anything that could help me reach something later in the story I'll upload anything I can find as well.

Okay, so as an update, I did a test rip. Completed Act 1, went through the Kourindou Roulette, did some Relic content, but before I do anything else I at least want to encounter every readily available cutscene in the JP version to try to maximize this- the current file output is 2787, but I feel it'll be larger eventually. Currently I'm trying to see if the file changes in size any if I mess with the game a bit (currently got it up to 2797 with the inclusion of Renko and Merry's cutscene and 2800 upon starting Chapter 2), so chances are it'll be a bit before I upload anything. So far, things are working smoothly.

Alright! Good luck, Kana! I'm starting work on getting more content as we speak, currently about halfway through the opening section of Chapter 2, but I also need to skim through Nitori's costume shop and such.

I have finished my project of getting things ripped, annoyingly I seem to still lack Satori's L80 form even after running her in ruins of memories. Very annoying, especially since I don't intend to do anymore ripping until a substantial update comes out for the game. Doesn't help like half my story cards were incomplete due to me having switched phones at some point. The one oddity I have noted is my cache through Blue Stacks is only 1969 folders but those 1969 folders are filled to the brim with loads of content.

I hope what you're doing is going well, IVBOY, though.

Thanks, Kana! I'm still partwway through Chapter 3, but I've hit a roadblock as a result of a sudden difficulty spike. Hopefully I can get A6 Alice and she does a decent job of supporting the party, but other than that at the moment I'm fighting through the game with very weak units. 

So far it has been going well. I believe my save is at over 4000 files at the moment, so I think I may stop soon, however obtaining new units hasn't been too difficult.

That's good to hear. The game certainly has an issue with difficulty, it's why I initially gave up on SDT,. Which I forgot to mention, I can't get any content from at the moment as I forgot the dang thing only runs like every other week. I've been thinking of getting battle sprites done soon, but you're the only person that's done it and I have no clue which files are used in those (besides the B______ one). I've also found a couple more UI assets that I may upload. I want to get as much of this game archived as possible before major life changes prevent me from doing further. Also getting A7 Alice would certainly be good as I missed her in her original banner, and she's not downloaded by default with game assets (though, maybe she was downloaded by default during her banner? I'm confused by what conditions this game needs to download content.)

Best of luck with getting what doing done, I'm going to see if I can find the phone my alt account is on, it was playing during the initial A7/A8/A12 banners and might have them in it's cache.

*edit* I already found the phone. I have no clue what I unlocked on this profile, I gave up on it but was using it for the event that I would find a way to rip the game and missed characters on the main. I think I gave up during chapter 3 as I got every character on my main account for that chapter. It's hard to play two accounts when real Touhou exists and this games combat is so... weird.

*second edit* Nope, that cache was more empty than my fresh account through Blue Stacks... Very demoralizing.
