diablo 2 sprites
#1
Hi guys, I'm new here and I've been drawn by those amazing diablo 2 sprites oO

https://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_com...struction/

I'm currently working on a rpg Adventure Game Studio project and would like to use the barbarian animations as a basis to create my animations. But the previous page, as complete as it is still misses a few animations that I would love to have (death, whirlwind...) so I tried ripping them myself. I followed a few tutorials that I found on the net but I still can't figure how to use MPQ viewer to extract the COF files from the installation folder. Is there any tutorial here about how to use this software ? I always have the same error message when I try to open a COF file with MPQ viewer and I can't tell where it comes from...

Thanks in advance Smile

I was about to make a Diablo II post but you beat me to that, Thanks Buddy ! Wink

While i cant help you with ripping, i wanted to add a few more missing D2 Animations:

Zombies (Walking Dead) sprites are missing. (But the body parts can be found on the site seperetly) I wish to use the full creature and not just parts.

Necromancer Skeleton Warriors are Skeleton Mages are missing, i also notice that the normal ingame Skeleton Warriors and Skeleton mages
(Like the burning Dead Skeletons, in Act II and the Horror varients are missing too.

Act 4 Oblivion and Abyss Knights are missing.

Also Act 4 mini bosses are missing too, Like the Infector of souls, Lord De Seis and Grand Vizier of Chaos.

Thanks a lot Barack, this seems to be exactly what I need. But even with the pdf it still is a bit blurry. I guess the main item would be DRtester as they say in the tutorial (merge dcc would arrive later for combining partos of the sprite if I got it right). Is there any special stuff I need to do to make drtester work? So far when I open it, it seems to load for a second or two and then it just closes. I tries using as admin but it's the same. I also tried a few different compatibilities (xp or 98) but no improvements. Since this tool seems pretty outdated I could not find it anywhere else.
Do you know what Im doing wrong?

Not sure why the pdf is blurry for you, it's perfectly fine on my side. Maybe the online links will help?

For DR Test:
No idea, when I try to open it, I get two error messages one after another:
"Cannot open MPQ files"
"Memory leak: -4bytes allocated"

EDIT: Possible solution:

Apparently, you need an updated version from Phrozen Keep's discord, since the 2002 / 2003 versions of drtester are not really functionable on Windows 10.

Necrolis Wrote:If you are using the MPQs from the digital download, DrTester will bomb when loading these, you need to remove the (attributes) file to fix this (since it cannot understand the zlib compression this file uses).

Mubbsy Wrote:Good to know, I assumed that Drtester would have loaded up first and then asked which mpq you wanted to view, so I assumed something else was wrong with it, not that it was loading the mpq's already and having issue with the version being digital download.

I'm not sure where this 'attributes' file you speak of would be for DrTester though, as it only comes with the exe and 2 readme's.

If you guys have another similar option to it that works, that would probably be preferable as I'm at my wit's end with DRTester right now. The discord you linked to appears to be private though, how would I go about getting an invite to the channel to check out this new option?? I googled diablo PK discord and didn't find any mentions of it.

Texalic Wrote:Well, if I'm not wrong, those attributes can be fixed by using version changer from chaosmarc
https://www.versionchanger.chaosmarc.de/
You can first copy and paste your game folder, to have a backup before you do anything....copy version changer files in the root folder where mpqs are, and run the batch file, you have sth like, fix attributes, just read and you will see.

Though, I have tried few versions of drtester from what I was able to found on internet, and program doesn't run on my side on windows 10.

For discord, go to forum index, under the phrozen keep forums, last one is Keep Discord invite by HarvestWombs or

https://discord.gg/NvfftHY

It loads up a default MPQ when you open it. The (attributes) files I am refering to are in the D2 MPQ's, they are part of the newer MPQ format infrastructure.

There is a link to our Discord in the left menu, under "Community", though thats the same link as Talic has given you.

English is not my native language^^by "blurry" I meant the instructions were not completely clear, but the quality is fine np.
I also read this forum's discussion but so far I still haven't found the solution, the discord server seems to be off so I can't get their version. I guess Necrolis' suggestion seems to be the most promising but I haven't yet figured what to do Defeated

Some other info:

https://d2mods.info/forum/viewtopic.php?...er#p458905

WinMPQ ist mentioned there, which might be a good replacement for drtester.

OK, so you want to do your own animation manipulations for D2 modding? Well, we have a new tool in the 'Animations' section
of our File Center's Mod Tools area. It's called the DR Tester v0.05,

It's an MPQ graphics test bed...and anything new is welcome when it comes to D2 animations.
Since drtester handles mpq stuff, I would give WinMPQ 1.66 a shot if it's not possible to get the latest drtester version from phrozenkeep's discord:

Okay, I got in. Seems like you just have to write a short post and ask for account verification (a simple "Hi" doesn't seem to be enough).

Used the search bar and typed drtester, clicked on a post from nikoabovethelaw who also asked for tools and saw this answer:
Clicking on cain-commands revealed this:
Lots of nifty tools, so definitely check it out if you can make it to the server.

Anyway, here is the discord DRTester:

Not sure if you still need it, but I decided to post the link anyway.

Yes, nikoabovethelaw was my pseudo Smile So yeah once you're on the discord there's a lot of good tools. I've found what I needed with the Cv5.2 app. Works great. I'm currently working on extracting a few sprites. I'll post them once it's done.

Thanks again Barack  Smile
