Doodles and Finished Pieces
Shitty low-effort drawing because I'm irritated at multiple things, one of them being pen pressure failing on me.

And yet its better than anything I have ever done, looks amazing.

With a little bit of free time, I decided to pick up progress on a drawing I was intending to finish.

At first, I decided to use desaturated highlights and shadows, but after I heard a comment from Vipershark about how he actually uses saturated shadows instead, I decided to experiment with the possibility of a new palette. The yellow orb on the right is with the old one, while the one on the left is with the new palette.

An immediate problem I ran into while trying this out was how to get the saturation to work just right. When using my base colors, they are already extremely saturated. With my old palettes, this wasn't a problem because I was desaturating the colors both ways. For the new one, however, it wouldn't do jack-squat if I increased the saturation for the shadows. With that in mind, the only thing I could do is desaturate the base color instead, so I could use a saturated shadow. Of course, with this in mind, I only managed to create one shade as opposed to the usual two I work with. Which approach to the palette do you like the best?

As for that red orb bellow, it is actually done with my new palette. The only difference is that I used a new shading style that doesn't look like a gradient because I turned off the feather edge on my brush when creating it. What do you think?

Great drawing!

Well, I more or less finished my Kracko pic and it was some very good practice for the new shading style I'm developing. What do you think of it?

I'm very proud of how the eyeball turned out, but the main cloud body looks a little off to me. I honestly don't think I shaded it right… As for the spikes, they look okay, but I do think some improvements need to be made to a few of them.

Overall, I am liking this new style and I really want to keep using it more.

Meh, you're not missing much, to be honest. *shrugs*

The freakiest part about the Aang you drew is that I can hear Avatar coming from somewhere in the house this very second. O.O

I think it's weird that the eye looks like it's floating in front of the cloud, instead of being, like, embedded in it. I don't know much about the original character, so I don't know if it's supposed to be floating or not, so I dunno.

I was given a golden opportunity to start trying to sell my art, so I need to make up to date art that I'm willing to sell. So I've gotten back into doing art every day. I didn't have much time today, but I churned this incomplete sketch out a little while ago. If I keep this up and practice I should be able to do stuff better and faster.

Also I can't draw robots, so I don't know why I tried.

You should design band shirts, no joke. What I've seen from you metal bands would eat that shit up.

It's supposed to be embedded into Kracko's body, but I was wondering if you have any ideas on how to better show that.

In the original artwork you referenced, it's not a full, poofy cloud. The poofiness is only on the outside, while the inside is like a concave thing where there's space for the eye to sit comfortably.
Also, in yours, the shape of the cloud's poofs just kind of disappear when they touch the eye, making it look like it's overlapping them. If you don't want to smooth out the center like in the official artwork, you could make the poofs closer to us overlap the eye, like what you did with the poofs around the spikes.
