Nice job!

The Battle of Red Cliffs (Genesis) Playable Characters The last 3 players. Top Shooter (Arcade) Playable Character This is a little wacky to explain. On ROM sites, this is listed as a Genesis game however it is really an arcade game using Genesis hardware (like the Mega Play and Mega Tech machines) since the game doesn't work on emulators as they either stop at the boot up test (Gens/GS) or boot up but doesn't accept the inputs so you can't play the game. I think the newer MAME versions can make this game work though, not sure. Luckily though this is ripped though the ROM except for a few sprites that required using GensKMod (that did work but doesn't accept the inputs, at least you can look at the title and the attract mode).

That hurts my brain.

Sorry... It's not the first time it happened...
Added: Double Dragon II: The Revenge (Genesis) Enemies and Bosses The last character from Double Dragon 2. Keith Courage in Alpha Zones (Other Systems) Playable Character People who have a TurboGrafx-16 (or a PC Engine) would have most likely heard of this game considering that it was a pack in game. Anyway, it's not as bad as they say but still it's not a good game. Just an average anime licensed game. (Keith Courage in Alpha Zones was known as something something Wataru in Japan which was an anime) Updated: Top Shooter (Arcade) Playable Character Corrected the system in the tag.

Added:
Shui Hu Feng Yun Zhuan (Genesis) Enemies and Bosses The 4th boss looks like a Chinese Mike Haggar. Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair (Genesis) Playable Characters Despite the Genesis having similar hardware to the arcade, this port is actually the weakest when compared to the TurboGrafx CD version (virtually arcade perfect with superior music) due to the different (worse) graphics and missing stages. Do not play the game in 2-Player mode, the frame rate gets so bad that it becomes unplayable. Still I've played games that are more terrible than this.

Great job as usual!

Jim Power: The Arcade Game (Genesis) Enemies and Bosses Nothing much to say except that after defeating the final boss, you stay there due to that the game wasn't finished but playable. Taito Chase H.Q. (Other Systems) Playable Character Chase H.Q. is a good game and even though the TurboGrafx-16 version is more closer to the arcade than the NES version and the NES port Master System/Game Gear versions, the hit detection is off making it from slightly going off course into more like a pinball game trying to avoid the cars as best as you can otherwise you go all over the place. Also yes, the home console versions (before the Saturn release) were called Taito Chase H.Q.

Very cool! And just out of curiosity, have you ever played/heard of a Genesis game called Sub Terrania?

Double Dragon II: The Revenge (Other Systems) Enemies and Bosses Yay for in game sprite viewer, the problem is that the sprite viewer doesn't have every sprite in the game especially with Billy and Jimmy just showing some garbage on the poses where you're getting grabbed by an enemy. Anyway the PC Engine/TurboGrafx CD version is a really good game and it's pretty much based off the NES version with upgraded graphics, different music and some extras like the return of Willy as a boss. Riot Zone (Other Systems) Playable Characters Like Double Dragon 2, this is one of the few beat em ups on the system and again it's quite good despite being a rip off of Final Fight (actually this is a partial port of Riot City due to that Westone and Hudson have some sort of agreement with Sega that in most cases the game can be ported but they would have to change graphics, characters and music due to that Sega owns them but Westone owns the programming; also see the Wonder Boy/Adventure Island series) and only 1 player. Apart from these two and River City Ransom, I can't think of any other beat em up for the system... TaleSpin (Other Systems) Playable Character Oh dear... I thought this would be a quick and easy rip due to that the sprites were in the ROM but it turns out to be some sprites in game that weren't in the ROM due to compression... I think that I have them all, if not let me know. The game is pretty painful to play and unable to get far in the game. I don't think that I would do many PC Engine/TurboGrafx card rips due to that in most cases you can't rip from the ROM and a savestate only loads so many poses (TaleSpin, Shibibinman, Bonk's Adventure, Shinobi) or in the case of New Adventure Island, only one pose at a time. Some games as far as I know can't even be ripped like Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu, Power Drift and Makai Prince Dorobochan (Spike McFang) due to supporting a slightly different video mode. Plus yy-chr doesn't support palette files unless it is from a SNES emulator so the palette would have to be recreated.

You're ripping from Turbografx CD? How?
09-16-2011, 12:20 PM
Oh, these are great! I thought about doing some Tale Spin rips, but couldn't get the hang of the game.

After managing to complete the game, it turns out that really is all of Baloo from TaleSpin so my guess was right unusually. Even though I had to cheat my way through...
Added: Special Criminal Investigation (Other Systems) Playable Character This is much better than the Chase H.Q. port even though it only came out in Japan. Double Dragon II: The Revenge (Other Systems) Enemies and Bosses The Ninja and two other enemies are unused in the game despite having their sprites, I guess it was to make it a bit more like the arcade version? |
