It's nice to see sprite rips from lesser-known fighting games. Smile

Anyway, have a nice trip!

Wait what? How'd you get the unused costumes for Starfy?
Thanked by:
They're stuff that's in the game data.

It depends on the game. Most (if not all) the sprites are stored in .nclr, .ncgr and .ncer format for palette, tile and sprites, respectively. Those are found by opening the game in Tahaxan and dumping them. Games like Ivy the Kiwi and the Cooking Mama series have those formats in folders as themselves, while most games have them stored in .bin files or other compressed formats, which you would then have to decompress. From there you would just have to use Oil of Vitriol or GlycerinMapViewer (both from Barubary) to get the sprites out of the files.

Anyways, that's the basic gist of what I know. Tongue

I get that, I know it, I just DON'T know how to decompress them. I've looked inside them via a hex editor and NCGR, NCLR etc, are all obviously in there, I just have no idea how to get them out. I'm not very skilled in the field of decompression. I appreciate that you're trying to help though.

Sorry, should've assumed you already saw that post, wasn't trying to make it sound like we think you're dumb. Sick

Me myself I wanna learn this as well because I also aim to rip from DS games.

IT'S A CONSPIRACY! ONLY THE ELITE FEW SHALL KNOW AND THEY WILL NOT SHARE THEIR SECRETS! >> <<

Heh heh, just kidding. I'm sure someone will share once it's actually figured out. But uh...we need to wait for him this fellow to get back and stop spamming up his thread with nonsense.

For this particular game, you can unpack (most of?) the .bin files with this program.
Usage (command line):
Code:
java -jar GenericBUnpacker.jar FILE1 FILE2 ...

Then decompress the data inside. (using DSDecmp; just drag&drop the output folder of the above unpacker onto the .exe)

Back from vacation. Had a blast, but it's always good to be back home. Might not have that big of updates for the next few days cause I'll be busy cracking about 60 crabs that we got. Tongue

Power Moves

Not that big of an update today, just getting something in before I forget. Only 4 more characters left in this game and then I'll probably head back to Super Puzzle Fighter for a quick change.

Nice! I had to laugh at the character's portrait though. All together now, "GROUND CONTROL TO MAJOR TOM" Tongue

Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits (SNES)

One of my favorite SNES games that I had back as a kid. Smile There were 4 other games that came on the cartridge, so I'll get to those too.

The whole name "William's Arcade's Greatest Hits" was too long for the game icon, so I had to shorten it.
