game's pretty ace but i can't help to feel like i suck at it
but apparently that's how metroid games are supposed to make you feel though, so

Really liking the sidescroller/FPS transition. At first I didn't like it and thought it was awkward, but now it's really grown on me.



and is it weird how i laughed when higgs' helmet opened and he blurted "RAMEMBUH ME"

i genuinely can't decide how i feel about this game

i mean it's a good game sometimes but the story progression in the game is so fucked up and convoluted it almost seems like an afterthought, the voice acting is INCREDIBLY boring and the cutscenes are a little longwinded, and on more than one occasion samus will kill a boss and then narrate everything that happened in the boss fight and the cutscene before it, in case you forgot the last five minutes i guess

the gameplay itself is a lot better than what i was expecting, but a lot of the combat is based around the same "dodgeroll, charge shot, dodgeroll, chargeshot" mechanic. the exploration is kinda still in but i definitely get a sense of the same railroad-y ONE OPTION ONLY vibe that i got from metroid: fusion and metroid prime 3

also i loved a lot of the bits that were pretty blatant fan-service, a certain boss from metroid: fusion shows up late in the game out of fuckin nowhere and offers no explanation for himself, and the final two bosses are really great.

and maybe coming from playing the prime trilogy straight into other m was a bad idea, i hadn't been following other m as closely as others and was expecting a good 10-15 hours of gameplay, and was a little disappointed when the credits rolled around the six hour mark, and i don't think other m has much for a new game+ mode

Well this is third time I had to return my copy... THE THIRD TIME! I just got my money back this time. I can't believe it. Apparently I'm not the only one, other people have returned their copies as well. There must be a huge supply of defective batches.

Sony probably messed with a bunch of copies of the game, as they did with the Zelda E3 demonstration. I haven't gotten the game yet, but I think I'm gonna get it tomorrow.

The story really picks up later on imo. Right now I'm playing the after story and the secret boss keeps kicking my butt.
