Great rips;
Good old times of ridiculous giant robot animations.

...So my computer crashed for the umpteenth time and there went my Seibu aircraft edits. Well, I did them again, with slight differences, and heck with the old ones, I saved over whatever was left. Honestly I'm kind of proud of the new versions. As in, more than the old ones.
And I made a totally new design.
"Way too much damn free time" is not a joke...
853,523,090 points, Type-A ship, Shot power, All Areas, Maximum 406 hits. All on Hardest difficulty (Okay, I started with five lives and C-button autofire among other things) too. But unfortunately that means the score ratio is probably screwed up. Also, I missed a couple of bee medals and should've gotten 500 hits or so but wasted a chain by searching for bee medals that apparently do not exist (On that specific level they're all at the end). Bah. It's so hard to have a perfect run... Edit: I also want to kick myself for not blowing off Hachi's top wings and stinger, but does anyone do that actually? Well, whatever. Also, Hibachi is a flaming bee that, when damaged...catches fire? What? No, seriously. He catches fire when damaged. It's just blue fire or something. I was like, "Uh-huh..." Well, he's Hibachi. Being able to catch fire while already on fire is a character trait I can't really argue with when I'm dead.

I'd pee in my pants if I saw a flaming bee that catches fire when dead. No, seriously.
Nice rip, as always. Is it from Do/DonPachi?
Dang. I thought I would've gained more attention with that, but I guess no one has ever actually gotten that far. Yeah, it's Hibachi from DoDonPachi. The "true" final boss, only encountered at the end of the second loop. I suppose I can call my nationality Japan now...eh?
Anyway, someone on MSDB requested these. They're the actual fighters that appear in the Raiden Fighters series, in other words, they're not custom. Boy, this was a lot of work. I also have the alternate palettes from Raiden Fighters Jet. Thinking of making more custom designs though. Looking back at Fireblade, I don't like the idea of dual push-pull nacelles because the airflow is probably a bit screwed up by the time it gets to the rear prop, so I'm thinking about changing it to a sort of piston-based afterburner (In other words, it injects excess fuel into the exhaust gases like in a jet engine, only this is piston exhaust). Of course, with that in mind, I could change the configuration entirely, into something like Beast Arrow or Griffin. I just need to figure out whether the combined output is greater or less than a pusher. (03-15-2010, 10:28 PM)esreveR Wrote: Dang. Fun fact: There's no arcades where I live, and the nearest arcade is 120 km away. And I don't think they've got Do/Donpachi. About the sprites, good job ripping them. Also making something in the same style shouldn't be that difficult, considering that you can mirror the outline to make the other side.

Sadly, in Seibu Kaihatsu shooters, they somehow had the time to make everything angle-shaded and therefore unable to be flipped in any direction. How the hell you would make 64-color sprites in 64 directions is beyond me (I think they did it by hand too, because they don't have blurry edges), but yeah, apparently they did it. For this reason I'm looking at Battle Bakraid as the next best thing to make customs for, because everything's pillow-shaded (Bahaha really...but it's easier that way, okay ) Also, I need good names for those custom fighters I made, namely the tandem-triplane and the cantilever tail ones. Already came up with Fireblade and Gargoyle for the quad-prop and night-fighter respectively. No response from the requesting guy, which is annoying the crap out of me because I clearly put thirty tons of effort into my last post and I've seen him on the board once or twice but somehow missing the sprite section entirely. Bah. And I'm not going to change Fireblade, apparently, as wind tunnel testing (Because my school is awesome enough to have a wind tunnel. No kidding) proves that the rear prop pulls air over the wing and can actually produce more lift, not less, if tuned correctly. And finally some actual damn ripping. Painful getting Type-A and Type-C to loop. Also, painful separating them from their backgrounds, because the backgrounds had fewer colors than they did O_o The animations are for them fully-powered, because apparently they're different based on how many power-ups you have. Sort of strange. Player 2 palettes for teh win!

i'm pretty sure the ships's bit are always animated in the same fashion disregard of its power level.

Type-A's option motion-blurs, for example, get longer depending on how powerful the ship is. Also, trying out WolfMAME Plus! 0.99, which has savestate support for Cave first-gen hardware! Strange how that all but disappeared in later MAME versions.

if you are telling me that dodonpachi could be ripped with that, then i'll do it.
(03-18-2010, 10:39 PM)Francisco Cifuentes Wrote: if you are telling me that dodonpachi could be ripped with that, then i'll do it. Only via screenshots, unfortunately. However, if you enable "Enemy never fires at you!" in the cheats menu, it should be fairly easy for some things. DDP's explosions are way too clumped together and crazy though, so maybe those should be ripped from Dangun Feveron instead (Progear is missing a color). And now for more random stuff. "I don't know what it is...but it's got boobies!" One of my friends said that when he saw this thing. It's the final boss of Gunforce 2, but like that matters, what kind of spoilers does an arcade game have? Apparently bursts out of a mechanized caterpillar, has a skull-like face that breathes fire, likes to throw little baby mecha-caterpillars everywhere, and punches hard enough to vaporize pretty much anything. And I love it. (The final boss of Cyvern also has tits, but I can't get the tiles for that system. They're all crazy lines and shit) Gekirindan, AKA Taito Makes A Toaplan Shmup! This bomber thing comes from 21somethingorother and has plenty of mines, missiles, lasers, and whatever munitions they're going to have then. The missiles shouldn't be fired up, but at that distance, they have no other animation, so don't sue me over it. Also, ten cruise missiles with CBU-105-style submunitions. What do you need that for? Then again, by this point they'd probably be able to solve the Middle East crisis by just dropping those things all over the place. I mean, the CBU-105 is crazy enough on its own. An enemy UAV from Rayforce/Gunlock. That game has an awesome EIGHT HOMING LASERS OF DOOOOOOM game mechanic to it, but it almost made me cry, what with the story and all. If humanity being kicked off its own planet by a mad computer isn't depressing enough, wait until you see the ending. Anyway, this thing has missiles and is actually facing the wrong way because all the tiles in Gunlock are upside down for some reason (What?). And has a rather interesting horizontal tail. Or is it even a horizontal tail? Hmm... Also, with Dan ripping Leona from MSXX, I've gotten interested in recoloring her to make...Rumi perhaps? I dunno. I'll check into it, yo.

Wow, it must've been a while. I forgot the site URL AND once I found it, I forgot where the thread was. Woe is me.
With that in mind, I'm probably going to post a lot, so bear with me... ...I guess I decided to make fun of Ace Combat using Psikyo sprites or something. Kind of a random, "Hey we could do this" sort of thing. Go figure. The B-35's been ripped god-knows-how-many times from Strikers 1945 II, so I decided to give this one a bit more animation instead. "a bit more" being two frames, but come on, give me a break. Besides, not everyone's ripped this animation, and edited it too. Yes, your bomber support in S1945 II could be damaged pretty badly and even shot out of the sky instead of just leaving early. Be careful about letting them fly into lasers, I'm pretty sure that would be instant death. But of course whoever the hell monitored arcade violence then decided it was taboo to let the good guys get killed, so it is what it is. Sprite: Used (Kaen), palette: used (That ninja guy with the hat thing), location: Totally not used. I found this in an unused stage of Sengoku Blade where you fought all the mini-bosses at the same time (Versus one after the other in the used version). There's like fifteen stages in the stage select thing, but only seven or so are used! They don't even have separate loops, apparently that's rank-related not stage-related. Which is also an interesting fact because it means your rank always starts at a set level in the second loop, and you can't attain that level in the first one. Weird. I turned 18 on the 5th, and I must be crazy, because I spent the entire day ripping this (Godawful transparancy, tile ripping, and the like...argh). And then I argued politics on Rule 34 and got banned. Great birthday, yeah. No kidding. I ripped the "how to play" sprites in Metal Slug. And then made this with it. Someone pointed out that the Konami code goes "B,A", but I just said... THIS. IS. RAIZING!!!!11 wait where's xxx large? oh of course. it doesn't quite sound right so they didn't bother. no xxx-small either. la-zy. Though B,A works anyway. Just unlocks something different. Along with Up,Down,Up,Down. Next image is HUUUUUUUUUUUEG so bear with me here. "You, degenerate president. We'll tell the world about your secret sex life!" Space Bomber dialogue. Some of the funniest I've seen in ages. But that describes everything about space bomber. Go play it. It's worth your time (No, really, even if it's this bonkers, it's nice seeing a modern gallery shmup). Also Rumi from that new Metal Slug slot machine, which SNKP should be ashamed of for not having HD graphics...when their previous Metal Slug slot machine had them. Also large image is large but not as huge as huge image. I cannot believe she doesn't look like a total klutz here. Blasphemy, I say. I would post Eri but...the non-MSXX artwork of her makes me mad because she doesn't look like she's going to sock you in the face (We all know Eri loves to sock people in the face, right?) and the MSXX one...well, you've probably seen it already. So yeah. in other news, "signature (registered users only)"...does this mean I can use this place as a guest...?

go rip gunlock. besides dodonpachi, its probably the very best shmups one can play in terms of 2D.

I really like that big HD art
maybe it's the foreshortening and the shirt's folds |
