It was the best I could do with the limited amount of shades.

Not true, I've seen outstanding things done with 3 or 4 shades. The star needs to be reshaded for volume purposes, right now it's terribly flat.

The other thing I've noticed that brings your work down is the AA. With it, the outlines look too heavy, and without it, the outlines are broken because you won't repixel them. I think the non-AAed versions would look much better if you fixed the outlines rather than leave them as they would look un-AAed.

I'm going to also have to agree that the bouncy animations are getting old. They're nice, but... try something new!~

You're a good pixel artist, so I'm hoping you won't turn this critique down like you did to CeeY! Keep it up.

I might be able to get it to look smoother if I dithered it a little, but using dithering in my sprites is not part of my style, would make it look too different. And now you ask, why not change your style? Simply because I don't have the knowledge to improve from what I am now.

The whole grey outline AA deal was inspired by the Mario & Luigi games, and the grey pixels on the outer edges is really the only difference with my "normal style". I always AA the outline when I'm done with the sprite, so any "mistakes" before that are in my style.

I tried changing up the star a bit (plus added one more shade to make it look smoother), but I'm not sure...

I usually try not to add too many new colours to my palette, to keep the filesizes lower. The fault is in me, I admit it, but the problem is making some sprites look decent while still being "me". And I'm not exactly the best pixelartist on the block, either. Don't always know what looks good or not.

I do think the newest star looks better, good job. And don't say, that, you're a good pixel artist and you've proven it. I'd just like to see you take the skill you have now and apply it to other things. I really think you could make an excellent mockup, actually! You have the ability and you could put the nice sprites you make to good use.

I laughed my ass off at the fact that this guy thinks he isn't one of the best. Jesus Christ, don't be that modest. Your work is astounding. Some of the sprites may not be 5-star quality, but a lot are.

I like the highlighting on the bottom right corner, it makes the star seem less flat. Nice job.

I wouldn't say any are 5-star quality. Some may be good, but most are far from perfect. And well, I still made some awful sprites a year ago and feel like I'm finally getting the hang of it. The standards are high on tSR.

A bump with another set of sprites because I didn't want to make a new topic.

Something about Bowser's face looks off. The rest are awesome.

I'll try fixing Bowser's face for next time, but now for something completely different.

It's my style that makes them look a bit deformed, but what's new?

It looks great apart from the broken outlining, it just makes it look jagged. :/

The outlining is like that so the sprites would look better against a background. And really, I've outlined all my sprites like that for a pretty long time now.

Bowser's walking took long but it's still a hit-or-miss. Maybe I should move his other leg further back when he steps forward...?
Oh and also, I fixed the contrast problem with Dark Bowser but I haven't updated the animation with the new palette yet.

Cool stuff, although I'm not really a fan of Peach's face.
