Banjo custom sprite

I did a banjo custom sprite in about 30 minutes... I find it weird, but I dont know what's wrong... Could anyone tell me? I'll add more poses after

Anyway, I really couldn't tell you much about the sprite. He looks chubby in the right sprite, though. But what bothers me the most is that cape. Overall, it needs some work.

It's not a cape, that's supposed to be a backpack.
I like the left one, but give him more chest. And does his butt seem too low?

Now I just realised something stupid. Banjo wears a backpack, not a cape. Knowing that, it's a little easier to look at, but now what is bothering me is the shading.
