Look how well those classic Sonic statue things sold. People like Classic Sonic. And brining classic Sonic back (oh yeah, they're different Sonics in my eyes) would make me get my Sonic plushie out from where ever the hell it is and happily walk around town hugging it.
My friend Phillip is a true Sonic fan and still totes his Sonic plushies and other stuff around town. Just sayin but whatever.

Complaining about his design too? The one they have been using for quite some time? I bet even if this game is gold you'll still find something to complain about.

To all the bitching about dash pads:
side-ways springs.
in 90% of the levels.
same damn thing.
They'll always find something to complain about. Really, Sonic is trash. Not just the games, not just the company, but the fanbase as well. If you can even CALL it that. A fanbase.
I ain't complaining, I'll definitely be getting it.

you know im pretty sure he doesn't just mean something that boosts your speed. his issue is that in all the newer games its more about reaction time than exploration and platforming because the boost pads practically put the game on fucking rails

Casino Night on Sonic 2 is the very best example of what rokkan is talking about.
the latter levels of SA2 are also(sonic/shadow ones), although the somehow multiple paths one can take are given by the choice of what rail you want to take to reach the end.

And about the fanbase, it's a clusterfuck. But why it shouldn't be? Sonic is just so divided between the classic games, the comics, cartoons, modern sonic, that it's pretty much impossible to the fans to ever come to a consense.
Think of it like this, there's Sonic 1, 2, 3 and CD. And pretend that those are the only Sonic games to ever exist. Each game is kind of different than the other one, level design-wise, graphics, and music. Some fans have more influence of one of those games, some prefer the music of one of these and the level design of others, etc. Asking them to create an ideal Sonic fangame based on those games would be hard because they'd all have to come to a consense about what elements will they take from each game, and it's impossible to have all elements from all of those games into one game, something will have to be out. Some prefer Sonic 1's simplicity, others prefer Sonic 3/K's complexity.
Okay, now stop pretending that those are the only Sonic games to ever exist and add in the Sonic cartoons and archie and fleetway comic books to the mix. Now ask them to create an ideal Sonic fangame. See my point?
There are way too many divisions, classic, western classic, modern, cartoons, comics, etc for the fanbase to ever come to a consense about what they like in a Sonic game and what they hate in a Sonic game. And inside those divisions there are sub-divisions as I already explained, and fans can have influence of multiple divisions and sub-divisions. So it'd be pretty much impossible to please the whole fanbase.

Its true the whole game had terrible sound in general. Not quality but choices. When you did something wrong it made a happy "DING!" noise, when you did something right it made a "DUNK!" noise. That screwed me up so bad in battles I thought I was doing good!
The way each chapter just abruptly popped up with no intro, just one minute you're talking to Knuckles then BAM! Chapter 2
The whole set up was poorly constructed. Ironically the game had the best story in a Sonic game since SA2. But that was the only good thing about it.
Bad DS port of Doomsday song does not a Sonic RPG make.
Weren't people saying that with Bioware at the helm of a Sonic RPG there was no way to mess it up?

apparently they ended up rushing the game even worse than sega did, which is why it's so terrible
I'm really happy that I never bought this. Once I got my acekard, it was one of the first roms I put on it. I played it once. Never again.
