again, is that bad?

yes because this is supposed to be an entirely new game, not (what appears to be a poorly done) rehash of the old ones

what we have seen is far from poorly done, excuse me distinguished gentleman.

Holy shit, is the perfect example of the "whiny, unappeasable fanbase". THIS GAME ISN'T LIKE THE CLASSICS ENOUGH THIS SUCKS THIS GAME IS JUST LIKE THE CLASSICS THIS SUCKS Christ, you got what you asked for - shut up.

No, see, here's my problem.
They didn't make it like the classics. The ripped off the classics. We never wanted a rehash of the original games. We wanted a totally new game with similar gameplay, style, and feel to the old games. Not reskinned versions of the old levels with different layouts. Is that really so much to ask for? I honestly don't consider myself part of the whiny fanbase that you describe, but you have to admit that sega is being incredibly cheap with that.

I got legitimately excited for Splash Hill and Lost Labyrinth! Specially Lost Labyrinth, it has some neat new level concepts, even though, well, it is extremely similar to Labyrinth Zone, which is something that I said it was bugging me since the beggining of Sonic 4, they are re-using a lot of elements instead of actually creating new ones, which is pretty lazy. Look at Megaman 9 and 10, they are legitimate sequels to the 8-bit games and it brought so many new level design (and other) concepts. Anyway, those both levels looked really good and faithful to the classics level-design wise, I was afraid they'd make it too straightforward and abuse too much of dashpads.
But UGH Casino Street Act 2 WHY would anyone think that re-going to the same structures AGAIN AND AGAIN until you get a certain score to get through the level would be fun? Seriously. I couldn't even watch the whole video. Also, just two small nitpicks, but I am disappointed by 1- Bubbler is now an enemy that does nothing but wait for you to homming attack it. You know SEGA, you can do more creative level design elements that requires you to homming attack other than a bridge of enemies. It almost has no skill envolved. If you're making bridge of enemies, at least make sure that it requires a certain skill in the later levels other than paying attention if the enemy is sparking/has its spikes out. 2- the deathpits ):

I'm not going to lie-- there is kinda a legitimate problem with this. It's supposed to be a sequel that goes back into the original idea of the classics.
Not a sequel that's... well, a remake. That's what's making people mad-- it's not a sequel. It's literally Sonics 1-3 + homing attack. Casino Zone Act 1 looks like absolutely NOTHING has changed. Even the BOSSES are exactly the same. It's not nostalgia, it's laziness. Quote:jar of fun said:
Gameplay videos of Mad Gear Zone (The final zone in episode 1) have been leaked. If you don't want to spoil the game for yourself, don't watch them! Seriously, if you watch the Act 3 video, you'll REALLY ruin the game for yourself.
