I dunno about you guys but I disliked 3rd gen a lot, ughh

the designs were pretty good, but I hated the region. The water exploration was just bullshit imo, I know it's "cool" to some people that it's ocean based but I just fucking hated sailing everywhere, it felt so uncreative.

As far as exploration goes, Johto was the best. Gens 3&4 just felt so uninspired as far as region design goes, it doesn't feel like an adventure or anything because the places you adventure to lack any sort of surprise.

i fail to see how endless, vast ocean, a city built on the water, an island with a shuttle launch pad, a town built at the base of a volcano constantly being rained on by soot, a village in the trees, a secluded town in the middle of the ocean build in a crater, and pokemons first legitimate desert are uninspired.

might just be me but i dont think a few towers and caves with runes in them cant even touch that.

It was mostly about growing up, everyone starts somewhere.
What makes g/s exellent is the clash with red in the end, it's the perfect end. It really shows how you've grow and that is the point of the game.
it's had a sincere level of deepness that the newer ones don't seem too.

also unedwater path kindof sucked

I think it was the colors of the Pokemon in 3rd Generation that tore me away from liking them.

There was a couple good 3rd Generation Pokemon to be honest.
Character Reference: 1 2
Love: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

i can see that but i think it was more of a unintentional thing or they would have kept with it, and doesnt really portray an excellence and mastery in the story telling nor the major plot events (which there werent any considering it had no plot)

It was intentional for the same reason that Stand Bye Me was playing on tv in the very beginning of red/blue

Well, this is just how it felt to me too! All I think of when I hear "Vast, endless ocean" is "A whole lot of water and nothing else" :c

Honestly, I didn't like R/S/E graphics. I preferred every other games' graphics, even R/B.

oh right lol. cool refenrence but considering the game was first released in japan and Stand By Me wasnt popular in japan i'd imagine it was put in by the english translators. i also imagine boys walking on train tracks wasn't pioneered by Stand By Me
