I guess he could grab a set of Game Boy sprites and try giving a real color palette to them as practice. For example, grabbing Mario sprites from Super Mario Land 2 and recoloring them with Mario's traditional colorscheme instead of the Game Boy's grayscale.
That's the one and only good use for recoloring I could think about.
yeah sure go ahead and recolor if you think you'll get a better start than me XD if you recolor, you'll get a worse start than me. lol, I know how to edit and stuff, but people scream at me to try and do a custom, LOL. so if you want to learn how to suck from the master, you will first do edits that most people can do, ROFL, and then you start to not accept what looks like non-C+C that is C+C, and you're done! Now you officially suck! so yeah, maybe do edits to learn, not make it part of your future spritesheet! LOL!

LOL! recoloring isn't always a bad thing  , they just shouldn't be submitted, its good practice. and im sorry, but that is the worst advice i've ever heard...
